Atmosphere is by far their best selling point. The food is average at best but I will say it is fresh. Arrived at the restaurant and was shown to a table that was not prepared yet ( had made a reservation 4 days ago and arrived on time to the restaurant ). There were other tables that were already prepared but we were given one that wasn’t, slightly odd. Ordered a fair bit because review on the place were really good and wanted to test out a variety of their menu. Started off with the salmon tacos, quite flavourful and pretty appetising. Next was the beef quesadilla, a lil on the sweet side for me but overall still appetising. This is where the meal takes a huge nosedive. Had the Sopa Azteca, which was so bland, a decent amount of corn , beans and chicken but honestly Mexican abc soup at best. Next up their mix herbed chicken rice bowl which was better than Taco Bell by a bit, nothing special. Their fish and chips which were so hyped up on the menu , was the biggest disappointment of the night. As you can see in the photo, it came looking like a chicken breast. Really underwhelming. Fish was fresh and soft, but honestly not the “best fish on the menu”. Lastly we order the Mac and cheese, we waited 15 minutes after all the food was finished. We asked the first server regarding the dish but she didn’t get back to us. Asked a second server and she claims it was on the way and would take another 5 minutes. Finally the original server who took our order came to explain that they SOLD OUT of the Mac and cheese and had to go buy more. Why wasn’t such an important information not relayed? She apologised but honestly I didn’t feel the sincerity. All she kept asking us was do you still want it or not cause it can come in 5 minutes. Deeply disappointed with the horrible service. Hopefully the server ( Dayang ) could improve on this.
Update review after owner's comment * Comments are made so that you , the owner , can take note of some issues that your customers had during their meal. I'm not sure how someone is so oblivious to this fact maybe if only you weren't born with a silver spoon up your rectal area.
Does the fish actually look like how it is on the menu? Why not try taking a picture of the menu and showing it here. Yes I agree food should not be judged on appearance but honestly everyone eats with the eyes first and it will affect the overall taste of the meal.
We told your 2nd server to cancel our meal regarding the mac and cheese. So how were we "reluctant" to cancel? All you did was keep trying to sell us the meal as if to force us to take it cause now you magically can make it in 5 minutes.
The only apperance that was commented on was the fish and chips and yet you were so quick to dismiss my review due to that one for that one comment?
And finally your last parapgraph was to respect your staff? In which way did we disrespect them? We paid for the meal , we did not make a scene that you had to "buy our food from somewhere else" nor did we do say anything offensive to any of your staff. So please don't try changing the subject. You keep taking all the negative comments as an attack but it's just info to help you.
Good on you for trying to protect your business , but this is not the right way to do it. Thank you.
Last update. Clearly the owner lacks many things. Nothing in your update clarified anything. At the end of the day the soup is bland, the fish is as basic as a regular store, don’t go charging rm40 for subpar fish, the service was horrendous. Don’t worry, we won’t be back either. Hopefully your dad doesn’t give you another restaurant to run to the...
Read moreWhile the food was decent, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of disappointment regarding the restaurant's hygiene standards. Upon our arrival, we were seated in an open-air section without air conditioning, which was tolerable until an unexpected and unsettling sight marred our evening. A horde of unsightly pests, colloquially known as 'Jerrys,' seemingly appeared out of thin air, darting around the dining area before taking refuge in the potted plant vicinity. Understandably horrified, we promptly requested a relocation to the indoor area.
To our dismay, the waiter apologetically explained that this recurring infestation was an ongoing battle for them. They had attempted to seal off the entry point for these 'Jerrys,' only to have them return a few days later, as if mocking the restaurant's feeble efforts. It was disheartening to learn that this was not an isolated incident, but rather a chronic issue that the establishment had failed to adequately address. One can't help but wonder if the restaurant's owners should seriously consider enlisting the services of a pest control specialist to restore not only hygiene but also the reputation of their dining establishment.
Adding to our dismay, the disappointment continued when one of our friends' orders was inexplicably forgotten. We were left waiting for a painful 30 minutes, during which time we couldn't help but notice that our friend's order had simply never made it into the system. When we approached the same bewildered waiter who had initially taken the order, it became painfully evident that he had no recollection of our friend's request. This lack of attention to detail and customer service only deepened our disappointment in what was supposed to be a memorable dining experience.
To make amends, the restaurant did offer us a slice of Oreo cheesecake. However, this gesture, while appreciated, lacked the sincerity we had hoped for. The accompanying message simply stated that it was 'on the house,' without any form of apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience we had endured, leaving us even more disheartened by the overall experience.
Reply to owner reply: While I appreciate your detailed response, I must express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding the ongoing pest issue at your establishment. It is disheartening to hear that despite your claims of rigorous pest control measures, customers like us might experience these distressing incidents. It seems like an ongoing battle that leaves us, as customers, in an unfortunate and uncomfortable position. To further emphasize the severity of the situation, I must stress that it was not just one but three arm-sized rats that we encountered during our visit. This only added to our dismay.
We understand that external factors may contribute to this problem, but it's equally crucial to acknowledge the impact it has on your customers. The intrusion of pests into a dining area, whether it be cats, lizards, flies, or rats, significantly disrupts the dining experience and leaves a lasting negative impression. Although we don't agree with using poison on animals in the area, it shows how serious the problem is. We believe there must be a better and long-term solution to address these issues, and we hope you take our concerns seriously as customers. There are numerous alternative methods to deter these animals that should be explored, rather than resorting to harmful measures. Given the persistent nature of this problem, perhaps it's time to consider whether temporarily closing the outdoor dining area is a viable solution while you work to address the...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, and honestly, after reading the owner’s response to several 1 star reviews, I hesitated to post this. However, I had a really unpleasant dining experience on Father’s Day and wanted to share my views.
First off, my expectations were pretty high after pretty great reviews on social media. In fact, I was the one who recommended this place for Father’s Day. So, focusing only on the taste of food, the meal was generally underwhelming, especially given the price point. I found the beef quesadilla to be slightly on the sweet side and the Sopa Azteca to be woefully bland. Yes, it’s Mexican Chicken soup but I wished it was more flavorful and richly seasoned. The kicker was the Fish & chips branded to be the “best fish dish they’ve ever created + godlike tartar sauce”; surely with a description like that, you’d expect more than rather bland breaded fish and tartar sauce with what tastes like bits of cheese added. Portion of the fish was also quite small. It was not a terrible dish but it certainly did not live up to its name.
Second, the service was sub-par at best. I appreciate that it was Father’s Day and it will be a busy day for the staff. I am not here to bash or call out any particular staff. I am objectively commenting on my experience of the service received that day.
I ordered the Beef Birria Mac & cheese. Truthfully, it was the dish I was most excited for. About 1 hour into the meal, all but the Mac & cheese had arrived and we had finished all our food, bearing in mind we ordered 6 dishes. We followed up with 3 servers to check on the status of the dish. The second server told us it would be ready in 5 mins, no further explanation was offered. This seemed odd to me so I asked if my order was forgotten. I had reason to believe this because my server took my order verbally and did not record anything down on paper. When she repeated our order, she also missed one dish; I reminded her of the dish before she left. Some time later, the third server, who is the server who took our order, came over to say the dish is being prepared and would be ready in 5 mins. I repeated my question as to whether my order was forgotten. She then said she didn’t forget and further probing later, she said the macaroni had run out and they needed to purchase more but she had forgotten to inform us.
As I said, it is Father’s Day so I would have been able to understand the situation. What was truly upsetting was that there was no sincerity in her apology. If she was truly apologetic, why did she not say this the moment she reached our table? Why did it require probing to get that info?
My last comment relates to the atmosphere. This is not the restaurant’s fault per se, we did make the last booking available for that time slot so it makes sense that our seats wouldn’t be top choice. However, I’d like to encourage the owner to perhaps increase ventilation and move some of the potted plants. Throughout the meal, the side of my head or ear would be tickled by the leaves of the potted plant. Again, not the owner’s fault but just basing off my personal...
