When it comes to seafood noodle, few places come to mind. And recent Michelin Guide has finally landed in Malaysia, the newer Hai Kah Lang in Cheras got the nod. Not sure about the criteria but for me, B&Best should be included as well.
Selling fresh seafood and serving PJ folks for many years, I like coming here because of the fresh seafood - never before had I tasted a foul seafood here. That, and the fact that it was about 10 minutes drive from my place on weekend morning. Most of the time I tried to come earlier to avoid queueing for table.
The sight of fresh seafood - abalone slice, tiger prawns, fish skins, liver, various types of fish meat and others (depending on availability that day) - was enough to make me salivated. When it comes to ordering, your imagination and your thickness of your wallet are the limit.
◾oysters - starting from the size of our 10 cents to 50 cents, the oysters were poached to the right doneness. My default order everytime! ◾Fish liver - also known as the 'sea foie gras', the missus couldn't resist ordering this everytime hence making it another default order. ◾snacks - fried fish cake and beancurd skin with Kg Koh style chilly sauce. A snack to munch on while waiting for the orders to be served. ◾fish ball noodle - an entry level choice for those who prefer something simple. The bowl comes with fish ball and fish slices plus blanched yaw mak. ◾seafood - the sky is the limit when it comes to choice. That, and also the size of your wallet.. take a pick from senangin, red snapper or even loong dan (estuary grouper). For me it would normally me their pearl grouper as the skin had the collagen plus not as expensive as loong dan. ◾Your noodle of choice whether it's soup or dry style. And I always get a bowl of pork lard for that extra flavour.
For me, this is my Michelin Bib Gourmand choice. Oh yes.. you'll also get that fast and efficient service...
