Went for lunch here during Sunday time. I have been into few authentic Korean restaurant in Sabah, hence I could do some comparison.
Ordered meal set of steamboat with pork meat. My partner of kimchi meal set with egg etc. We also ordered a small sized dumpling serving and a stir fried vegetables.
Steam boat meal set is ok. Not much complain nor praise. But side dish given I guess is too little in my opinion. Kimchi, radish/carrot and some kind of peanut. That's all. Far lesser than what you will get at Sandakan Seoul Garden. The cashier (a guy) seems like the owner of the restaurant. I guess he is a Korean.
My wife's kimchi is ok. Our stir fried vegetables not that much of praise too. But the dumplings are bland. Not much taste.
Just that, they gave free flow cold water foc. There's also option for hot water if you want. Haha...
But 1 thing I saw (As a Safety committee champion back in my workplace, I am quite sensitive with safety issue), the Cuckoo Water Dispenser electrical supply was plugged to an extension cable sitting right beside the dispenser. It's very dangerous, if someone/customer accidently spilled his/her glass, that water will surely hit the plug top and electric shock can happened, which can be fatal/or bring serious accident. I immediately inform the boss, and he immediately adjust the position of the plug and thank me for that.
I guess the boss is an ok...
Read moreIt was a spur-of-the-moment decision to eat here, as we did not plan to have Korean food for dinner. Passed by the shop and suddenly felt like having a meal here. We ordered a Kimchi Stew (RM15) with Pork (+RM3) and a Seafood Scallion Pancake (pajeon) for RM27.
There were 3 banchan (side dishes): Kimchi, Radish (Musaengchae), and Black Beans (Geomeun-kongjorim). I am not sure what is the deal with Korean restaurants in Kota Kinabalu, but serving only 3 banchan is really stingy by usual Korean standards. However this seems to be the norm around here, so it is what it is I suppose.
The food tasted good, both the kimchi-jjigae and pajeon. I personally don't think it was worth paying RM3 for the pork, it was very little and the stew probably tastes perfectly fine on its own. The pajeon was on the thicker side, but goes very well with the dipping sauce served together.
The staff generally appear to be unhappy, none of them smiled, hence 3 stars for the service. But overall it was a 4-star experience and we consider it a reasonable place for when we need...
Read moreOur family eats at Korean restaurants often. However, this was by far the worsr. The food is terrible. my daughter ordered kimchi fried rice - it tasted too sweet, texture is soggy, beef tasted funny. We also ordered seafood pancake - it was very oily, it tasted like unseasoned thick omelette, ingredients was raw. Vegetable rice and soup were so-so, it tasted nothing Korean. More like local food, with a Korean label and overpriced.
Atmosphere is noisy. When we entered, the staff were eating a meal at a table. We could hear loud music. They spoke loudly. We went over to inform them at the table to tone down - they continued. When they cleared the table, it was done roughly and loudly. Our father wanted to take water from the dispenser, a waiter rudely cut him. It was an uncomfortable ambience.
We came here hoping to celebrate Mothers Day, as our mom enjoys Korean food. It was a huge disappointment.
Please do...
