At least 40 years ago, the kuey teow stall here was located opposite the main gates of Chung Hua primary school and was very popular among pupils. The stallholder made his own flat rice noodles, and his woks at home were fuelled by firewood. To this day, this gives the noodles a very distinctive smoky flavour. The late stallholder's son now runs the business, and the heritage of the same distinctive flavour remains, together with its signature omelette. It comes with a generous portion of crunchy beansprouts and chives, and makes for a hearty, savoury breakfast. Even after over 40 years in business, this kuey teow runs out early. It has 9-10 stalls packed in this coffee shop. You could get the local staples of kampua, wantons, bian nuk, soup noodles, laksa (was once a hit but it’s now kinda lacking in flavour), grilled Kompia with braised pork, dumplings, char kuey teows (one of the stall has a 60 yr history), Roti Canais, nasi lemak etc
