OYO 89456 V Motel — Hotel in Borneo

A hard "never again" for this hotel and the OYO group.

We booked a non-smoking room, but when opening the door it was reeking of cigarette smoke. Despite requesting a room change, we were told the hotel was "full” and all other rooms occupied. Really? all rooms checked in at 4pm already?!? The staff sprayed some air fresheners that only irritated my eyes. With no windows, there was no way to ventilate the room either. The bedsheets looked stained, and the pillow was lumpy and uneven. Despite booking a windowless room to avoid noise, we were kept awake by screaming kids next door and motorbikes outside. Maintenance was poor: the bathroom door doesn’t fully close, the sink faucet a fountain sprayed sideways, the TV hung so crookedly it could pass for modern art, and the Wi-Fi signal frequently dropped. To top it all off, I woke up to a cockroach crawling on the bed.

The only reason for rating this stay 2 stars not just 1 star, is due to the free hot and cold drinking water dispensers and a small lounge area on each floor.

For me this is a perfect hotel!! Located above a restaurant. My room is very clean and spacious!! It worth the money and price. Toilet is clean and got bidet for those who wants them, and shower is nice, got hot water definitely! 😜 Bed is very comfortable. Aircond functioning well. But...the pillow is too squishy for me, it doesn't bother me as i can piled them up...

Never stay at this hotel! The internet connection here is terrible. In fact, 5G coverage in Kapit town is much smoother compared to the hotel’s WiFi, which is extremely weak. With charges of around RM80+ for the room plus an additional RM17+ service fee that is unreasonable, the experience is simply not worth it.

My advice. Tell your friends not to stay...
