Keeper's Ground, a café located in The Spring Mall, serves perhaps the finest gourmet dishes one can find in Kuching.
Certainly on the pricier side, here is where I mouth the clichéd saying, 'you pay for what you get'. Speaking of the environment of this place, the designs are beautiful - a very sleek & modern feel with lush greens bringing a certain freshness to the place. The service is excellent - the team is ever ready to serve guests.
Keeper's Ground has their very own bakery, where their pastries are served fresh from the oven. I particularly love their cinnamon roll - crisp at the outside, fluffy in the inside with a sinful sugar coating and a rich cinnamon punch. Their cakes are spectacular, and very artfully displayed for the perusal of customers.
Their cuisine served is top-notch. Dishes like the 'Multigrain Fried Rice' is Michelle's favourite - consistent every single time we visit this café, the rich colours of the red rice, purple cabbage, coupled with quinoa never fail to impress. None of the dishes I've tried here as ever failed me. The KGB Burger (is that ?Keeper's Gourmet Burger?) serves a succulent home-made beef patty with crunchy sweet potato fries.
Keeper's Ground has a rich selection of teas and beverages. I've tried some of their flower teas (Rose of my life, lavenders in provence) and they were really nice.
Aside from the pricey part, I easily give this place a 5-star. It is true, in this case, that you pay...

But I'm all up for service.
They have a big sign board at the main entrance that says : Please wait to be seated. So in an attempt to be a civilized person, that's what I did. And I waited for a good 5-7 minutes until I was able to catch the attention of one of the waiters and gave her the expression which I hoped meant: should I come in? Because I can see the place was rather empty at the time.
She then hurried towards me and greeted me half way with a: you can actually just come in.
😀
Shouldn't have read the sign bord.
Anywho.
The food otherwise was okay. I ordered the Pesto Spaghetti, which is meant to be vegetarian. But the waiter didn't hesitate when I asked for prawns as add-on (although it is not listed in the menu). Prawns were fresh and not overcooked.
I had the coconut green tea for drinks.
A comfortable place to just sit and well, catch up with friends, or even do some...
Read moreI don’t understand why the service is slow even though there are so many servers. There is only 2 servers who are really nice to their customer. I am especially upset with one female Malay server who wears spectacles and one female barista who is also wearing spectacles. My family and I came into Keeper’s Grounds after being informed that there is a table available and asked to go in. First, the female barista asked whether I reserved a table or not and I said yes. Not long after that, the female Malay server asked again. They could have double confirm with their other coworker instead asking so rudely to me. It took so long for them to give me the menu as well even though they passed by my table so many times. It was also obvious that the female Malay server was particularly dissatisfied with me and she did not even bother to serve us when I wanted to order the donuts. I hope the service improves. No matter how good your food tastes, if the service is bad, I’m pretty sure no customer would want to come back to this...
