Lian June Cafe is one of my favorite hunt to go to in Kuching for my quest to find the elusive Tomato Ketchup noodles because the restaurant is not so crowded (when I go there that is) Yes I kid you not, because I studied in Unimas (way way back in 1994-1997), I fell in love with the Tomato Ketchup noodles but alas in KL it seems that nobody even heard of this! Outrageous right? Only very few and I mean very very few stalls in KL came close to emulating the Kuching version of this meal. Strange indeed, maybe they should rename it to Kuching Tomato Ketchup noodle instead. Pros - an okay version of the meal, could add a bit more sourness and thickness to the ketchup gravy. The concept is a bit strange for the uninitiated, tomato sauce with char koay teow sounds weird, but they make a sort of sour-ish soup that compliments the koay teow very well.
