Located in the quaint town of Kuala Selangor near bukit Malawati, Café Lumiere presents itself as a small haven for those seeking a quick bite amidst its cozy ambiance. However, my recent visit left much to be desired, and I feel compelled to share my experience.
Despite its inviting exterior and cozy atmosphere, Café Lumiere offers nothing out of the ordinary in terms of its menu. Serving typical Western fare, the offerings lack innovation and fail to excite the palate.
With only a handful of tables, the café exudes a charming intimacy. However, appearances can be deceiving, as I soon discovered upon encountering the proprietor. His rudeness cast a shadow over what could have been a pleasant dining experience.
To make matters worse, the pricing of the menu items defies all logic. The exorbitant prices do not correlate with the quality of the food, which is made evident by the cheap ingredients and lackluster taste. It's disheartening to see such inflated prices for such mediocre fare.
For anyone passing through Kuala Selangor, I urge you to steer clear of Café Lumiere. The combination of mediocre food, lousy service, and astronomically high prices makes it a regrettable dining choice. Save yourself the disappointment and seek sustenance elsewhere. With its subpar offerings, rude proprietor, and unjustifiable pricing, it's simply not worth the visit. I do not recommend this café and advise others to stay far away to avoid...
Read moreOk so, I usually ignore these notifications, but this one I'm excited to do. This is also coming from a guy with no instagram, Twitter, and only use fb to look at other ppl, so I can care less about imaginary internet approval. This place was a gem in a sea of trash. I found it very hard to find large pieces of meat in Malaysia (Canadian who frequents HK style tea houses, so porkchops rices are my thing), so when I went inside I was pleasantly surprised they served actually chicken, I ordered the drumsticks, when initially I only went in because of the relatively more classy exterior decor. Oh, they also had a cat sitting at the door, very nice American short hair, very friendly. I also ordered the hot chamomile tea, re-fills of the hot water into the tea pot is free. Owner super friendly, nice guy, speaks English and canto, and I'm assuming Malay and Mandarin. Seating is comfy, and clean , relative to the other shops in that area which is run down and dirty. The surrounding area is a fishing district just FYI. Extremely poorly written on my phone, but hope it helps. Unfortunately, most of the pics are of the cat, but here's...
Read moreThis place is great and at the same time you can complain it. So before to go better to know:
ATMOSPHERE: great, beautiful cozy cafe where chill and enjoy talking with Gerard, the owner can speak good English. The sofas are not very comfortable but I stayed there for hours working and chatting with Gerard. The cat is lovely
PRICES and FOOD this can be a cold shower, especially if you are not rich. I think this place is just for high level tourists, and it’s kinda of place you can find in the centre of KL… so when you pay 69myr pasta (that is tasty and with a lot of Gerard’s love but… 69myr… in other coffe you pay 20myr the same pasta), or 30myr a slice of cake (very good taste), or 18myr a cup of coffee tastes like instant coffee 100%… I mean, or you are rich or at least I think Gerard must show you the prices in advance, knowing are NOT-for-everyone-prices. This I didn’t like personally, discover such these prices after, not fair. I’m not rich and I felt bit bad.
If you know this, and you have high budget, for sure is a good place with a very nice owner...
