Gula Cakery Kota Kemuning — Restaurant in Shah Alam

I came here with my friends on Sunday, 12 December 2021 at 4.45pm. We were asked to wait outside for about 10 minutes for a table. At 5pm, we entered and sat down. We then proceeded to go to order at the counter after being told that they offered waffles and ice cream. However, when we went to the counter, we were then only informed that they had ran out of waffle batter. We weren't even informed that they were no longer serving waffles at the front door, where we could have changed places to dine at if we knew. Finally, we ordered 4 scoops of ice cream at 5:06pm.

We watched as they served many people who ordered take away of cakes and even hot food to the people who were dining in. We patiently waited for 30 minutes where no waitress or waiter informed us of the delay or the reason for the delayn our order. We eventually flagged down a waiter to ask to check on our order but there was no explanation given. After 10 more minutes, we eventually asked for another waitress to check on our order again where she told us that they were making our ice cream at the moment. I was actually perplexed as to how would they make the ice cream in such a short time???

Eventually my friend went to ask for further clarification at the counter on why it was taking so long for them to scoop 4 scoops of ice creams???? However, instead of sincerely apologising and offering some sort of compensation or explanation as to the prolonged delay, they merely served our order 40 minutes later. We were very upset as we were there to celebrate our friend's birthday and the celebration was ruined as we waited and waited for ice creams which did not even live up to the hype that we drove 30 minutes for.

The Gula Cakery has an abundant of choices to choose from. From heavy meals (like Asian to Western) to sweet desserts (like cakes and pastries) to drinks (hot and cold); they have it all!

We ordered Iced Caramel Latte and Iced Chocolate as our drinks and Creamy Carbonara and Kuew Teow Goreng as our meals.

The Iced Chocolate was quite nice with a price of only RM12. It had enough chocolatey taste and just the right amount of sweetness that was not overwhelming.

The Iced Caramel Latte was so-so. Not bad per say but not exactly my cup of tea. But the size was big for a RM14 drink so redha la. 😌

The food took some time to be done. Not that long but not fast enough for us to be happy 🫣

The Creamy Carbonara was gooooddd tho. It was just the creaminess I like. It's thick and creamy and just enough to coat the pasta. And the beef bacon was also great! It wasn't too salty not was it tough. The meal was lovely and worth the RM24.

The Kuew Teow Goreng was not what we expected tho. It was probably our fault to assume the Kuew Teow Goreng would be the normal Char Kuew Teow Penang. It was more of a Kuew teow goreng mamak. It wasn't bad, just that we were disappointed it wasn't Char Kuew Teow Penang style. 🥹🤣

The place is rather spacious and has a lot of seatings. It's rather cold tho like freezing cold 🥶🥶🥶 so do wear thicker clothes or bring a sweater if you wanna lepak there.

Had a lunch here with a group of friends. This is my 1st time here..but 2nd times for my friends. Quality of foods was good. I had spegheti lemak cili api. The taste is creamy but not so spicy. For dessert i chosen raspberry pistachio cake. Its taste ok with chia seed maybe. But fr me the cake texture abit dry. My friends had spegeti carbonara, chicken chop, waffles, and seafood olio oglio. All was good.

This place also sell premix cake, premix rownies and premix cookies. They also have cakes in jar, rolls cake and assorted tarts. At the 1st floor is Gula Creamary where sell assorted smoothies and ice-creams etc.

I take away a few slices berry pavlova, tiramisu almond cake, biscoff chocolate tart, blackout chocolate cake and double chocolate Nutella cake. My favouriteis blackout choc cake bcoz it use dark chocolate and not too sweet compare to double choc nutella.

I informed the staff named siti nur atiqah whom duty as cashier on that day on my suggestion for cake order improvement. Suggested to assign 1 staff at display chiller to take orders as for my 1st timer here, i can't remember all the cakes name when i spoke to the cashier who took the order. I hv to go back to the chiller and told her my cakes selections.
