Yikes - this was not good.
My wife and I came here with her parents. Her dad liked the place for a long time. Her Mom said that it's gone down-hill and not many people go anymore. Well I can see why.
The decor is very out dated. Looked like the paint might be peeling off the wall. Not many people there at prime dinner time (weekday), and the wait staff seemed bored. They kept hovering, staring at the tables hoping to have something to do.
We ordered a few dishes. Started with the Mushroom Soup. This was the only reason they are getting two stars - the soup was actually pretty good.
After that, we had the Lobster Salad. The waiter admitted that the lobster is frozen. It was fine for frozen lobster, but don't get it if you expect something fresh and delicious. It was fine.
Then we had our mains - every last one of them was just bad.
Spaghetti Napoli is supposed to be a tomato-based sauce with minced chicken. The sauce was brown and super sweet. Not sure how you make spaghetti Napoli sauce sweet and brown when it's supposed to be made with tomatoes, basil, garlic, crushed red pepper. What part of that makes it brown and sweet?
Spaghetti Carbonara on the otherhand was incredibly bland. Practically tasteless.
We got a garlic steak (forget what it's called) - and I knew there was a problem when it came completely covered in sauce. The steak was not well cooked - it was very tough. The sauce was super salty and not appetizing.
We also got the rack of lamb. This also came covered in sauce, was super salty, and just not well cooked.
Would not recommend this place to anyone. We will definitely be avoiding Victoria Station for a while. Hopefully they can clean up their act (literally and...
Read moreOff the top I would say the restaurant is flawless in terms of service. The waiters were ever so attentive to our needs and wants during our dinner. We were a large group and food was served all at the same time. A mistake was made to an order but was quickly ratified and even extra side order of baked potato was given for free. Moving to the atmosphere, it was beautiful albeit a little outdated and but still maintains a little sense of grandeur. Now the food, this is where the restaurant falls incredibly short. We were a big group so we had a sample of a lot of menu items and I would say almost all had some faults in them. The meats in itself were all incredible from the T-Bone steak, Sirloin steak, ribs, chicken chops but the flavour was lacking. The steaks were cooked perfectly to our requested doneness but it was extremely bland. The other dishes came with sauces which was very one dimension, the BBQ sauce was sickly sweet, black pepper sauce tasted of only black pepper but the saving grace was its brown sauce which was decent. The sides were another matter, the bread rolls were cold, the baked potato's topping was lacking, steam vegetables was so little we had like a piece of broccoli per plate. The only good side was the mashed potato which I implore everyone to get instead of the baked potato or fries. This is not what we expected from a plate that costs RM50-RM120 each. All in all, the restaurant has great potential, just revamp the decor and...
Read moreI thought this time would be different. But sadly, no changes from the last time I went. First, the foods were overpriced. With that kind of quality, I could get better from other restaurants around Taipan and cheaper. Second, no originality. For simple foods like fries, they have to use frozen fries like the one you bought from the hypermarket. Why can't Victoria make it from potatoes?? Even mashed potatoes were from, I think, Knorr's mashed potatoes powder. I ordered chicken and it tastes like overcooked plastics. Gordon Ramsey would ask them to close down honestly. When I was there, I saw a worried middle-aged man with shorts, consuming Chinese tea who I presumed is the boss, perhaps contemplating why customers are lesser and lesser, perhaps he has to be honest with himself, what he thinks of his own products before feeding them to...
