I visited this restaurant again after a positive experience with the spaghetti, hoping to try other items on the menu.
Unfortunately, the gravy for both the steak and the prawns was incredibly salty, far beyond what is acceptable. The level of saltiness was comparable to that of salted fish.
The chef claimed that the gravy is sourced from a factory, presumably from a central kitchen. Regardless of its origin, it is essential that the chef tastes the gravy before serving it to customers. This should be a fundamental part of the standard operating procedure, and staff should be instructed to adhere to it strictly.
We appreciated the efforts of the friendly staff, who, despite language barriers, tried their best to serve us well.
We have previously visited Bumbu Bali at Bandar Puteri Puchong and Ole Ole Bali at Sunway Pyramid. While we noticed that the food there is somewhat salty, it has always been within an acceptable range.
Regrettably, this will be our last visit to this cafe. We hope you prioritize the health of your customers, especially those with high blood pressure, who cannot tolerate excessively salty food. Please address this issue promptly.
For reference, our dining date was July 20th, 2024, between 4:45 PM and 5:30 PM, and our total bill was RM 150.80.
Frankly, the price does not match the food quality provided.
October 2024: Feedback to the Owner
Thank you for your response. While I understand that other customers may not have shared similar feedback, it left me feeling as though my concerns were not fully valued, and I began to question whether it was appropriate to voice them. My intention in providing feedback is always to help improve the dining experience, not to criticize.
I have been a loyal and supportive customer of your establishments since the days of Waterlily at IOI Business Park, Puchong. I’ve always enjoyed your food, especially the Asam Laksa and barbecue chicken, which were exceptional.
Over the years, I’ve chosen to dine at your Ole Ole Bali branches at Sunway Pyramid, IOI City Mall, and Empire Shopping Gallery. These experiences were memorable, and I’ve always appreciated the friendliness of your staff.
That’s why I’m so familiar with the quality and taste of your dishes. However, I felt that my feedback in this instance was met with some reluctance, which is disheartening.
I also believe that many customers, when faced with unpleasant experiences, may choose not to provide feedback at all. Instead, they may simply walk away and never return to the restaurant. It’s important to address feedback when it’s offered, as it provides a chance to retain loyal customers and improve overall service.
Given this, I regret to say that I may not return to this café or your other restaurants. I hope that in the future, customer feedback is received with an open mind and used as an...
Read moreUPDATE: tried it their Soto Macaroni on my second visit and I did like it. It's basically macaroni in soto ayam soup so the fusion concept here is quite simple. I however did not detect any hint of fusion in Siap Aglio Olio saved for the fried shallots on top. It was still good though. I particularly enjoyed the Calamansi Margarita. What I did not like though was the Sup Jamur. It was mushroom porridge, not quite a soup. Not that I don't like porridge but I have ordered two mains that were already carb heavy. The taste though was pretty mild if you're expecting it to taste like the usual mushroom soup that you're used to. I've got the feeling that the menu has slimmed down a bit compared to my last visit. The still have a good selection of pastries but I had no room for that anymore.
Is the fusion concept at Kafe Bali a good endeavor to modernized the Bumbu Bali brand? I think they have hit the right note. The items on their menu looked sparse but whatever they have and that I have ordered were not bad at all. I did find their sup tomat (tomato soup) a tad sourish and too acidic. That was the only blight in this otherwise a fantastic dinner experience. The two pasta dishes - beef bolognese and mutton penne with tomato paste may not lean towards a fusion of sorts but they tasted good. Mighty glad that there wasn't a hint of acidity unlike their tomato soup. The beef were in chunks and tasted somewhat like beef patties. No complaints though. The best dish was in the form of a salad. A cumi cumi salad (calamari) to be exact. The balance between the Japanese sesame salad dressing and the sourish spicy sauce was just right giving it a much refreshing and yet flavorful taste. The chicken wrap was another dish that has a complex flavor of creamy but sourish dressing. The potato wedges that came with this dish goes really well with the brown sauce on the side. I wonder if we could order the wedges with the brown sauce separately.
From the pastry section, I tried out their chocolate fingers and the onion twist. The latter deserves 5 stars. It was crispy on the outside with a generous amount of buttery and onion taste. I was already quite full by then but I couldn't pass up on that onion twist.
Price wise, definitely on the higher side but it's worth a visit once in awhile to pamper yourself with their food that is rich in taste and their decor certainly makes you long for a trip to Bali again. Assuming that you have been to...
Read moreToday is a very special day.
I got to meet my colleagues who have become my good friends. Two of them are retired and another friend from my previous work place, all of whom I have not seen for a while.
I picked KafeBali to have tea as I have not been there yet. Often when I passed by the cafe, it is quite full and a line is formed outside as patrons wait for their turn to dine in there. Having to wait just deters me from dining there.
Today, is a perfect day for tea there as many people are still back in their kampungs and away for holidays. Hence, the place is not that packed with people. That made the meeting of friends here so lovely today.
The beautiful settings of bird cages, bird nests chairs, bamboo furniture and the resort like ambience give the place such a warm vibe to create great memories with loves ones.
I love the Balinese setting and the menu has many interesting offerings. If you love savoury food, there are a variety to choose from - from rice dishes, soups, roti, salads, pasta and cakes.
I really love the drink selection. I love that they are so creative with their coffees ( Balinese Artisan Coffee) and mocktails. I will definitely go back to try the different variety.
As it was a hot day, all of us had the different cold mocktails. I had the jackfruit mojito and I love the taste of the fruit and the spice at the end of the drink. Just a very refreshing drink. My friends also enjoyed calamansi margarita and the lemongrass mojito.
We also ordered Tipat Cantuk to share. As we are already full from lunch, we could only have snacks this time around but we will definitely come again to try the mains; to taste the distinctive Balinese flavours.
