I had an unfortunate incident at Uncle Don's Taipan recently.
I ordered my usual Chef's Pizza but it turned out to have strong detergent odour. I informed this to a waitress, and she replied that the detergent odour came from the wooden pan holding the pizza. However, she could not change the pizza for me according to the company's procedures. I was shocked with the reply and they seemed to imply that I should consume the pizza with detergent odour. I insisted on the pizza being replaced.
The waitress took the pizza away and returned minutes later saying that all pizza pans have the same detergent odour and therefore all pizzas will carry the same odour even I get a replacement pizza. I was shocked for the second time with the reply and they seem to imply that pizza with detergent odour is normal for consumption. I explained that I have been having pizzas at the same eatery outlet many times and this was the first time I encountered a pizza with such detergent odour.
The waitress went away to check with her superior and returned minutes later saying that they would serve a new pizza for me but could not guarantee that the pizza will not have the detergent odour. I was shocked for the third time with the reply and they seem to imply that they don't care about customers health and food safety. I told her that this is unacceptable, but she just shrouded her shoulders without saying a word and just walked away.
I was left speechless with this episode. I had no choice but to cancel my order and walked out of the eatery disappointed without my dinner. This was after waiting more than 15 minutes for the waitress to go back and forth to her superior for next course of actions. The superior had no interests to resolve this issue with me directly.
Uncle Don's has been one of my favourite eateries, but I am not sure anymore of...

Pray for a suitable table placement and a good server. So after counting your lucky stars, here are the pros and cons.
Pros
Cons
If you happened to come along and had good service, well lucky you. Unfortunately for me and my partner not so much. Here's what transpired. Our seat placement were under a set of high powered fans which simulated a tornado. When asked to change to a seat more suitable we were refused on basis that the other table was for 4 people. However clearly there were 2 people sitting before. But that is just a small matter. Then, we were given the wrong order and we're told to wait 20 minutes more if we wanted to change. Finally when we paid the bill, they gave the change to a table behind us. Luckily the people at the table were kind enough to let us know. Decent food but sadly bad service. So to all future go'ers, if you can overlook that please go. Its affordable and has decent food. If not you're better off using that money to buy lottery tickets cause you'll have to max out your luck to get good service there.
Ps. Not all staff there are horrible. I suggest better staff training and maybe more staff. You can clearly see they...
Read moreIts been long since i last visited this restaurant & by coincidence today, i manage to park right in front of it. So was wondering whats the changes like and order a pork chop and mushroom soup, taste was average and both of the portion is really little. Worst of all is the service, the moment i came in and was standing at the tables outside near the entrance. I had to pick up the menu myself and nobody seems to care to ask, if want to be serve or make any orders. After that i walk in a little and seated on the dining table beside the glass, which is slightly inside but still outside and wanted to make an order. But there is no waiter and i even hold up my hand as a gesture, but nobody sees me at all so disappointing and i waited for sometime before i saw a waiter. Such is the poor standard of service and food serving offer by this restaurant, but well i guess is not the staff that is lousy and rather inadequate manpower which the owner need to sort it out, at the minimal install a bell or button...
