This is just a personal opinion, i cant speak from the experience of other customers... but...
i went in not expecting anyless than an above average meal since ive tried the other japanese restaurants beside yamada... as the doors of the establishment opened up, i was hit with a very "gloomy" ambience... it was as if the restaurant just woke up from hibernation... which wasnt a bad thing, but it just set the tone for the entire dining experience... The waitress then told me to pick a seat which i gladly did. She then passed me the menu and left me for a couple of minutes as i browsed thru a wide selection of dishes and sets they had... i eventually settled for a rice bowl topped with salmon roe and a side of unagi (forgive my bad memory for dish names).... I made my order and waited for my meal... my meal came and i started of with the fruits which were decently fresh. Then off to the chawanmushi, which was nice... i then dug in to my salmon laced rice bowl... and man oh man was the rice sour... i know it's cooked with vinegar but (this is completely personal dont get me wrong) was it sour... i just powered through the bowl and tried to cleanse my palate (with the ginger provided) to enjoy the salmon... but the rice was way too sour... maybe coz i was the first customer of the day idk... ill give em the benefit of the doubt... but after i was done... i was so glad the miso soup was good... i shoved that down my throat and chugged my tea, stood up and payed... dont hate this review but again i have to say this is completely a personal opinion, others might find the food delicious... but yeh the fish was alright - 5/10 Side dishes 6.5/10 But urgh the rice 2/10
Customer service and atmosphere eh... 5/10 could be better... Price not super justifiable but eh 5/10
Was just expecting the rice to be good... coz for those that love japanese food, know that it's only as good as the rice ๐
Dont let this review stop you from experiencing yamada yourself, do check em out. The noodles i heard was alright... but yeh the...

Oyakodon was extremely overpriced, low quality chicken. Chicken cutlet set was okay. Nothing great. Tempura set with soba was the saddest. They forgot the tempura sauce, soba soup was EXTREMELY salty, they threw the tempura crisps into the soup making everything soggy. When we asked the waitress where the tempura sauce was she pointed to a miserable blob of sauce on the rice. Even when they gave me the sauce after there was no radish garnish inside which is the norm for tempura sauces. Chawanmushi was tasteless. It had 1 very sad tiny piece of chicken and 1 nut. Nothing else. Green tea was like water. Severely watered down and tasteless. Here's the best part, green tea is RM5 per cup. Came to RM20 in the bill. Waitress is not the best. Asked for 2 sets of fork and spoon. Gave us 2 spoons and 1 fork. When I asked for another fork she gave it to me and took back my chopsticks. Waitress kept taking our food away before we were finished. No idea why. The best thing was the miso soup, cause that was probably from a packet.
This place did nothing right. Bill came to almost RM190. For this price you might as well go to Rakuzen or somewhere else that makes your...
ย ย ย Read moreThe interior of the restaurant is very Japanese with wooden wall and ambient lightning. I like the place because it's cosy, and food is authentic. It's run by an old Japanese chef who prepares the sashimi himself. The restaurant also well stocked with sake and Japanese beer and Choya. The pricing in this restaurant is higher than the other Japanese restaurant within the same row but you get the quality of what you are paying for. The portion is quite huge as well. I do recommend to have their sashimi and raw stuff here as they are fresh and tasty. The standard is almost similar that you dine in Japan with nice cosy Japanese style environment. The sashimi slice were quite large and thick. Preferable to come on Tuesday and Friday as the items will be very fresh on that day. The price here is slightly more expensive with other Japanese restaurant within the same row of shops. But for the price that you pay, you get a better quality...
