Yami Yabi — Restaurant in Gżira

For starter we ate sushi, which was fast and great! Then we ordered a main course a pokebowl and something with beef.

We waited, finnaly a waitress asked us if we wanted something, I replied I already ordered. She looked confused and checked, the order wasn't placed, then we waited more finnaly after about 40min one of the 2 main courses arrived. We waited for a bit since we like to eat at the same time. We waited some more and started eating the pokebowl. After it was finished a waitress came and asked if she can take it away. I asked is my food still being prepared. She will check. Not a minute later they came out with my food.

Then we ordered a dessert, against our better judgement. At this point we where obviously a bit annoyed so we started to really time it and from order of a desert until arrival was 25 minutes.

Fresh fish but lackluster preparation.

Tuna belly tatami was fresh, but the belly was stringy and tough, not tender. Tamago was the plasticky prepackaged kind, wet and over sweet... A shame, as it's so easy to prepare well in house. On the plus side were the crab spring rolls and the temaki. Unfortunately, the mango sticky rice featured a gummy overly firm blob of porridge instead of the anticipated lovely grains of sticky rice - - I suspect it had just been stirred way too much in cooking. The additional fresh fruit was nice with the mango and coconut milk though. All in all, a mixed bag. Better...

When we ordered the time to delivery was 20-30 minutes, then they updated it to 45 minutes and when that came and went and they added another 20 minutes! At the end it took just over an hour and a half to get the food. And guess what we got as compensation? Some cheap 2 euro egg rolls- on an order of over 70euros!!! That’s it! When things go wrong I guess you can expect horrible customer service here. They said they didn’t have enough chefs today, so why did they keep taking orders??? And even if they messed up why can’t they compensate properly? Never ordering...
