On December 25th, my wife and I had the pleasure of enjoying an exquisite dinner at Punto Bar & Dine. This charming restaurant is beautifully located right by the sea, offering breathtaking views of Valletta. During our afternoon walk along the coast from Sliema to Valletta, we stumbled upon this gem. The inviting atmosphere and stunning setting immediately caught our attention, and we decided to return for dinner later that evening.
The staff were exceptionally friendly, and we had engaging conversations with them. We were seated right by the water, separated only by a glass wall, allowing us to enjoy the view while staying warm. For starters, we shared the Fresh Mussels, prepared with white wine, garlic, cherry tomatoes, fresh chili, parsley, and toasted bread. They were absolutely delicious.
For the main course, we chose a Maltese classic: Slow-Cooked Rabbit, served with rabbit sauce and creamy mashed potatoes. The portion, 300 grams of tender rabbit, was more than enough and incredibly flavorful. While eating rabbit can be a bit challenging due to the small bones, the taste was worth every bite. To complement the meal, my wife enjoyed a wonderful glass of red wine, and I opted for a local Cisk Beer, which paired perfectly with the food.
The absolute highlight of the evening was the live violin performance. It added a magical touch to the already perfect setting, making the experience truly unforgettable. We were able to savor our meal while enjoying the beautiful melodies—a moment we’ll cherish forever.
This was, without a doubt, a 5-star experience, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!
About our 2nd experience at Punto Bar and Dine:
We spent a magical New Year’s Eve at Punto Bar & Dine, one of Malta’s finest restaurants. Located in Sliema, right by the sea, the restaurant offers breathtaking views of Valletta—a truly enchanting setting.
The New Year’s Eve menu was nothing short of spectacular. It started with an appetizer of Beetroot Chardlets. For starters, we enjoyed Cold Rice with Truffle Pesto and Beef Carpaccio. For the main course, I had Roasted Turkey, while my wife savored the Slow-Cooked Roasted Lamb. The meal ended on a high note with a delightful Orange Cheesecake, paired with a wonderful wine. For refreshing drinks, we chose Aperol Spritz.
The evening was accompanied by a live violin performance, which added an elegant and romantic touch to the experience. As the clock struck midnight, we were treated to a stunning view of the fireworks over Valletta, making it the perfect way to welcome the New Year.
It was an unforgettable evening, and we couldn’t have imagined a better way to celebrate. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience with incredible views and...
Read moreFirst off i wanna say that this restaurant is beautiful, it’s location is just perfect. However I am not satisfied with the service or the food. I went here with my boyfriend to get a nice dinner at a great location, I ended up paying 79€ for cold food that I had to wait 40 minutes to get. First off we got greeted by a girl talking on the phone, she then waved us to follow her over to a table, the table was right in front of a speaker, that was very loud, and we then chose to go look inside instead. It was a warm and busy night, so inside the restaurant was very hot, and didn’t have seats available by the window so we were about to go, when the same girl from earlier asked us if we were leaving. Then she hung up the phone and found a table for us, which was nice. We then ordered a starter (the avocado burrata) and two main dishes (the pesto buffalo pasta and the rib) and lastly we ordered a beer and a cocktail, later we ordered a beer and cocktail again. Then we waited, we waited 40 minutes, but we assumed that the kitchen was busy because of the many guests. Then after the 40 minutes, our main dishes came. We told the waiter that we had ordered the avocado burrata and then he took out main dishes with him again. A couple minutes later, he came back with normal tomato burrata, we chose not to say anything because we were really hungry at this point, and the tomato burrata looked good as well. Then the waiter came back with the same meals he had just taken back to the kitchen. The rib was really good, and still a bit warm, but the pasta was totally cold and the burrata tasted a bit sour (old) and it was hard like a normal mozzarella (as shown in the video below). I understand that it might have been a busy night, but if a restaurant has as many tables as Punto does, I think they should be able to give good service to everyone. Which was also not the case in other aspects than the food. We found it very hard to get the waiters attention throughout the night. In the end when we got the bill, the waiter said that he could take 2€ off, because of the burrata, but then ended up asking for a tip, making it almost impossible to say no, by waiting for me to press a button. I could have said no, but I think most people wouldn’t, when put on the spot like that. I am honestly very sad that I had this experience because I was so exited to eat at the beautiful scenery, but I just don’t think it was worth the 79€. This is just our experience and I am sure that a lot of people has a different one than we did, we might have been unlucky. But I regret not making it more clear in the moment, that we where unsatisfied, so that is why I’m...
Read moreYesterday was the third time I ate at Punto. I love the atmosphere here. I love to sit at the water's edge and look out onto the boats.. The view is great. The cocktails are 50/50. My Campari Spritzes were great, my Margharitas on the other hand, were watery, didn't have that wonderful tart but sweet lemony taste that it should and was served in a Martini glass. The food, I eat salads, there are not enough salad choices but I had the pineapple salad which was very tasty, and the chicken salad, mine was great, my sister's chicken was a bit dry, my neice's didn't have half the tomatoes I did.... Consistency is key in a good restaurant.... Yesterday, I had the mushroom risotto, tasty but a bit loose and a little too oily. Risotto should have no juices or oil surrounding it. Service, over all the service is OK, the food is served in a timely manner, the drinks a little less timely, overall throughout, the staff can be a little more attentive, as they don't come back to the table once you're served and one has to keep trying to get their attention. The overall attitude is particularly cheeky. I asked for half my salad to be packed and was met with an attitude that was on the edge of ridicule. One shouldn't be made to feel uneasy when asking for food to be packed, a. I think it's a crime to waste food, b. Obviously, I liked it, so it should be appreciated. For service I would give 3.5 stars. The waiters need an etiquette class but that is not enough to stop me from going again. I really like this place.
Update.... March 2024. Went back a couple times because I really like the location, last time I went I was really disappointed with the service. The waiters forget you are there. They leave and never come back, not to take another order or to bring your drinks...and you wait and you wait and you wait, we would have ordered so much more if we got any decent service. In the end we got tired of it, paid our bill and went elsewhere. To the management: It is not enough to rely on your location! The place is big....staff it well...and train...
