Maya’s Kitchen Maya’s Kitchen is one of the best-kept secrets on Gozo. Located just west of busy Independence Square in Victoria, on the Island of Gozo. This little restaurant excels in delicious fresh food. Maya and her husband opened their “Kitchen” last year and hit the ground running. Maya’s menu has many of the everyday items you would expect from a small Gozitan restaurant: pizzas (delicious by the way), burgers, wraps, fabulous salads, and traditional Maltese dishes, such as their outstanding rabbit stew, Stuffat tal-Fenek, Malta’s national dish. Where Maya’s Kitchen stands above the rest is its incredible baked pasta. Maya told us she followed her mother and grandmother’s traditional recipes, and the results are phenomenal! The lasagna is as good as and possibly even better than I’ve had in Italy. The seasonings and the balance of the sauce are superb. Do not miss having the baked tortellini. They are baked in a rich cream sauce with fresh mushrooms and a mixture of cheese to die for. A selection of wines is offered that you would expect from a sidewalk café in Italy or France. Beer, soft drinks, and fantastic homemade milkshakes are also available. You will be blown away by the extremely budget-friendly prices and super-friendly service you receive from Maya’s husband. Maya’s Kitchen is open 9 AM to...
Read moreThis was a complete joke! I ordered the bird burger, which is a chicken burger, and when I cut it in half it was completely raw. They took it back and made another one, but when they came back with it they didn't bring new, hot fries. Then, when I asked about it, they told me it was up to me to tell them I wanted new, hot fries??? So basically, it was my own fault ... then, when they did bring new, hot fries, I had already finished my burger. So, as I started this post, it was a complete joke and a disgrace! UPDATE: as seen below, I got a reaction from Maya's Kitchen and by the reaction you can tell that what I wrote actually happened. To the owner and/or cook of the bar I would like to point out that what I ordered was an entire dish, so it could be eaten as a dish. In that respect, if you serve me a raw chicken burger and you take it back to cook it properly, you should realise BY YOURSELF that you should also make new, hot fries ... so it would all still come together as a proper dish. And for the record, I didn't pay for this food. It was my friend who did and it baffles me that he tipped for the joke that you served me. Also, not even an apology in your reaction towards me is super sad on your part. Please do better in the future. Obviously not towards me, but to...
