Cittadella was Amazing!!! We have visited different castles on this trip in different countries and this was the most complex. It walls and gates and one set walls higher than the next. Stairs and alleys that made you feel like you were in a Maze. Lots of ups and downs and some dead ends. It's one castle built on and around a previous one multiple times over hundred's if not a thousand plus years. This piece of land has been a defensive point for centuries and they have the Archeology finds to prove it. Most people can go through the castle property in a couple of hours. My wife and I spent over 5 hours and didn't see everything because many things onsite close at 1 pm (1300) on Sundays. Definitely worth the visit and pay the $5 Euro for the Museum Ticket because it gets you into all the Museums on the grounds. There is one house that is worth the fee.

The Cittadella is one of the call out attractions on the Island of Gozo. There's a number of different museums plus the Cittadella Visitor Centre which was personally a little disappointing but as it is included in the entry price and you get to sit down and watch a movie you might appreciate the break! We didn't have much time here overall for a number of reasons so would like to return and explore some more.

Free to visit the fortress, the museums and Old prison inside however have a small entrance fee. I'm not a history buff so the best part about it was the maze like architecture and view points. It's nice and windy making for a good break in the summers. Careful with hats and skirts 😄 There is also a well-maintained washroom, also free to use. You can take a lift upto the 2nd floor upto the fortress.

I didn’t pay to enter the museum as I arrived late in the afternoon, but to explore the Citadel was free - so this is what I did. The complex has great views, and there are placards dotted around with information about this impressive landmark. The Citadel also contains a few shops selling local goods, and a couple of restaurants.

A small but very informative visitor centre exploring the rich history of both the Cittadella and the past of Gozo. Much of the finer detail you’ll find in the digital and interactive displays. At the end you’ll find a small animated film you can watch in your preferred language. The staff were also friendly and great.

The magical Citadella in the heart of Gozo Island, located on the edge of Victoria, exudes unreal beauty, beautiful place, great view of the island, landscape to enjoy, for the full experience you must buy a ticket for visiting the small museums, decent price
