I recently visited Fortune 8 restaurant at Port Louid. First thing to note — there isn’t a dedicated parking space, so finding a spot nearby might require a little patience. However, once inside, the experience was off to a good start. The accueil (welcome) was warm and friendly, and the service was impressively quick.
The waitress who attended to us was exceptionally polite, attentive without being intrusive.
As for the food, it was good not outstanding or extraordinary, but definitely enjoyable, and for the price point, it was absolutely fair. It strikes a balance between value and quality, making it a practical choice for a casual meal.
The decor is quite rustic, giving the place a cozy, somewhat nostalgic feel. It's not overly fancy, but it has a certain charm that makes it very inviting, especially if you're planning to come with family. It's the kind of place where you feel at ease, where the focus is more on sharing a relaxed meal together rather than chasing a "fine dining" experience.

The dishes we had were amongst some of the most bland food I’ve ever had at any Chinese restaurant AND they arrived over 45mins late! Some of the vegetables looked like they had started to expire, especially the lettuce that had black bits.
When we complained about the delay we were told it was because they were busy hosting a private party upstairs?!? As for the rotting veg the management weren’t apologetic and appeared to be used to this complaint.
The place was hot and stuffy because the air conditioning was switched Off - to save money I guess? I am flabbergasted at how many people eat here considering the poor/average quality dishes, food poisoning other customers have mentioned in previous reviews and overall lousy customer service/experience!
Just because it may be cheaper than other places doesn’t mean you should accept substandard food and service. It’s quite clear that this establishment is focussed primarily on making money than delivering a quality...
Read moreThe place was highly recommended by relatives living in Mauritius as well as close friends, who relates the cuisine to that of our late Kung Kung in quality, we try it, kind of mix feeling, we order fish balls which was far from fish balls as UT was mix of fish and some with meat. The Chinese Sausage was the biggest disappointment as we though it will be local Chinese Sausage instead it is steam imported one from China which is available all over, we did not finish it, if only were were told it was imported we would not order
The croquettes crevette was another disappointment, half slice crevette, in a big doughwy and oily dough, we also did not finish
Fried noodles and fried mee food were good
Steam stufded tofu was average
Service were...
