It’s the kind kind of place with such a studied charm the you have to wonder who designed it? Like it’s almost too perfect, the metal ants on the wall (if you can’t beat nature, you embrace it) to the fierce stick prominently displayed like a wild dragon in the dining room. Even the soaring thatched roof that just screams a kind of natural elegance, you start to think, there is no way the food will live up to this. My wife’s Shrimp dish on rice was superb. I’m fact she let me have a taste of her rice and it opened up new worlds. I’m going to have to go home and start researching rice dishes, I’ve never had anything like it. Creamy, tart, maybe a bit of saffron… hell, I don’t have a clue. But it was amazing. She wouldn’t let me have any shrimps. For my meal I tried the enchiladas stuffed with plantain and it was also a revelation. Who thinks up this stuff? It was surprising and fun and excellent. The drinks were all perfect, the service was exactly right on the damned button, as good as any I have ever received. For the ambiance, the creativity, the service, and quality of food, it was money well spent!...
Read moreThis is 100% a tourist trap. We are Mexicans living in the United States and know very well what great Mexican food should taste like. Mistura was not it at all. My husband ordered the seared tuna, and he gives it 3/5 stars, very average for the high price. I had the pastor shrimp with creamy rice. I can cook better shrimp at home, and I am not a chef. The rice was also average. Again, there is no match for the price charged. My daughter ordered the shrimp tacos. The menu indicated they came with flour tortillas, but other tacos options came with tortillas made fresh in-house. We asked the server to switch from flour to the house-made tortillas. Once served, they came in store bought corn tortillas. The tempura shrimp was worse than the frozen ones I usually get from costco.
Such an expensive disappointment!! The place is very pretty, clean, and well located, and the service was nice. However, it is not a good place to eat authentic Mexican food and is expensive. If you want a modern twist of Mexican food in Bacalar, I recommend trying Nixtamal and...

The grilled fish dish was perfectly cooked—tender, juicy, and wonderfully complemented by fresh herbs and vegetables. The accompanying sauce added an extra layer of flavor that elevated the dish even further.
The grilled shrimp with pineapple was an absolute highlight! The combination of sweet pineapple, flavorful shrimp, and creamy avocado purée was simply sensational. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite.
The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was stylish and inviting. If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Bacalar, Mistura is the place to go! Highly...
