When we travel we never go back to the same restaurant twice as we try and get variety in places in food....this restaurant we did though, we couldn't help ourselves. The food was amazing! We highly recommend the garlic bread, the curry, the vegetable skewers and the steak. The garlic bread is nice and chunky, cooked perfectly. The steak was the best we have had in months, cooked perfectly medium and paired with an amazing sauce and salad. The vegetable skewers were filling and full of variety and flavour. The curry, I cannot stop thinking about it. It was delicious! We got the tropical version and it was bursting with flavours. Everyone was so lovely, helpful and attentive! They somehow could anticipate our every need. The wine is excellent and they have an option for chilled red wine which we appreciated after being in the heat. The music was so good we now have the playlist and the atmosphere was very chilled but classy at the same time. Don't go to Bacalar without trying...
Read moreWe were the second people to arrive. We were informed the Kitchen will open In 20 minutes and proceeded to order a drink. Several other groups arrived after us and our waiter. Not sure what his name was but claims to have lived in Texas for 14 years and speaks good English. Not sure what his name was. Started entertaining 3 other guests that arrived after us putting their order in, to add insult to injury. Before the kitchen opened we told our waiter we know what we wanted and he told us to take a picture of the menu and wait even after insisting that our order would be placed without spending our time trying to get his attention and feeling neglected. This individual offered us EXTREMELY RUDE and POOR service without explanation. His attention to us was awful and we have eaten there before many times but I do not think we will return with...
Read moreThe two curries (shrimp and chicken) we had here were pretty mediocre. The curry sauce in both tasted like it came from a grocery store mix rather than being made with a proper curry base and spices and the shrimp was overcooked. But the worst part of this was the surprise we got when we got the bill -- a 10 peso charge for our polystyrene takeout container!! I objected to this not so much because of the cost but the principle -- I have never been charged anywhere for a takeout box!! This wasn't for some ecological reason, our waiter explained, but to cover the cost to the restaurant of the container. When I said it wasn't ok not to tell us about the charge in advance of asking to take home our leftovers, he agreed to remove it from the bill. But charging for this is pretty outrageous anyway. If it wasn't for the really good licuado I had,...
