Xolo Itzcuintle taco bar — Restaurant in Bacalar

Definitely a place to get some quality Tacos of any kind and good drinks (recommend one of their signature drink El Xolito)… this is not a fast food joint you will have to wait a bit. The service is fantastic, kind staff. My party of two got here around 5PM got drinks within 5 minutes of my order and appetizers within 10 minutes (delicious guacamole and blue chips and additional sauces and pickled items) and dinner within 15 minutes. Dinner consisted of handmade blue corn tortillas topped with steak, fish, and shrimps. I only ordered 3 tacos and they did not skimp out on the meat. Lots of meat, definitely worth the money. Quality ingredients takes time and care which is done well here during my visit. Of Note, the server sanitized hands between guests and handling of plates. My friend and I were staying a couple blocks from this restaurant and walked by it a couple of times without thinking much of it. We finally chose to give it a try and I think had we gone from the beginning we may have ate here every day. We walked it a little later in the evening but the kitchen had everything to offer and it was all delicious. We ordered about 5 different dishes for the table to share and we practically rolled out of there from how much we ate but it was all absolutely delicious. From the tortillas to the queso fundido to the vegan tacos and even arrachera tacos we had it all and they truly have something for all. Just arrived in Bacalar at night, hungry and tired, with my husband and toddler. Wow, this place far exceeded our expectations and if this is a representation of what Bacalar has to offer, we're in for a treat! Delicious tacos (chicken and beef), outstanding passionfruit smoothie, great vibe, SUCH kind and friendly staff! The music was great, the other guests were so nice, the patio seating was comfortable and the place has a great overall ambiance. Reasonable prices, open late. Our toddler approved of the tacos and wanted more - wow we are so grateful! He danced the evening away and we had such a nice welcome to Bacalar. We will definitely be back to...
