Pizzería il nonno — Restaurant in Bacalar

Excellent excellent, excellent. My partner and I had dinner at El Nonno tonight and it was superb. We shared a garlic and mozzarella bread to start with and had a pasta dish each - I had the carbonara and my partner had the boscaiola. Both were fantastic and truthfully wouldn’t have been out of place in a trattoria Rome (I say this having been to Rome many times and travelled - and eaten - extensively in Italy). The pasta was homemade and perfectly al dente and the sauces were delicious with a terrific consistency and flavor. We had a tiramisu for dessert which was creamy and rich and rounded the meal off perfectly. The soft drinks were freshly made and super tasty and the service was warm and friendly. The atmosphere itself was lovely and laidback and the place has a stylish design to it, including the tables and small touches like crockery & cutlery. We got pepperoni pizza I would consider it thin crust but it was delicious, we also got a chicken Alfredo the noodles seemed freshly made thick noodles the sauce was creamy and flavorful, the chicken was breast and so tender. Garlic bread was very tasty perfect amount of butter and garlic. I got an agua de Jamaica which was ok my kids got lemonade and I liked the lemonade better. The only complain I had was we got there at 5 because Google said it opened at 5 but they didn't open till 6 As a family of 4 with picky eaters this place was amazing. I really don't know why this place has such a high rating. Because of that I went with a friend and we got some roasted bread with tomatoes as a starter which was fine and two pizzas. The dough is not salted, the sauce tastes like nothing and even if it looked quite good it was just super unsatisfying. We both only eat half of it (which I swaer never happend to me before) and also felt super bloated and unwell after it.
