I went into this location today with my son for breakfast while staying at a nearby Hotel. As soon as we walked in, no one said anything, so we did not know how to order (sit down or walk to counter) so we did both, I sat down, my Son went to the counter, young lady came to table, did not say hello or welcome just handed us menus. I asked for coffee she looked at me as if I committed a crime, then wrote on her pad and asked if we needed some time, my Son asked for orange juice she said we do not have, then we ordered something else on menu and placed our food order. I asked for a spoon to stir coffee she walked away and came back and dropped spoon on the table. Never once asking if we needed anything else. This was one of the first places in San Jose we found organic, dairy-free, and gluten-free options. Of course there are many more now, but Cafe Calafia holds a special place in my heart for being early. It is nice that after six years of not visiting, the owner still remembers us! Photo is from 2014.
Also, gere is a journal entry I made in March 2014: Cafe Calafia is our new favorite coffee shop and hangout in San Jose del Cabo. We've been here almost every day. We discovered them one night while searching for good, fresh, organic whole eggs to buy for making our own breakfast the next day. (The new Flora's Farm shop in San Jose was out and Mega does not have anything resembling organic eggs.) They happily fulfilled on our unusual request and sold us a half dozen eggs for 30 pesos. They have organic coffee, fresh made juice (including green juice), fruit smoothies, fantastic breakfast, alkaline water, free wifi, and the sweetest owners. We also learned that the building has been in their family for...

I loved the story about your Cafe and how it was your husband's grandmother 's home. She always offered a cup of coffee to everyone who entered her home. Now, you carry on the hospitality of your grandmother with every cup of coffee you serve. May Blessings be showered upon you. Thank you for being so kind hearted y assisting strangers in need at 7am.
