El Mezquite at Vidanta Los Cabos — Restaurant in Baja California Sur

The atmosphere was beautiful such a beautiful restaurant the side dishes were good very flavorful. We ordered the steak for two. The waiter came out with a table breath the 16 ounce steak out and put it on a little table and then told us there’s three different times of liquor that he can pour on it which one do we choose? I had no idea what he was doing with it we chose cognac, but he said it would be the best, and he proceeded to catch it on fire and pour a ton of cognac over our steak and then cut it up, the steak was so powerful with the cognac flavor you couldn’t taste the meat or any seasoning or anything part of the steak. He knew we were disappointed in it. The steak was horrible. It really gets me pissed as he didn’t even try to discount it or do anything about it. So if you are eating at this establishment and you get the meal we ordered I would advise you. To not allow them to pour that alcohol all over your steak. my family and i ate at the mezquite while on vacation, we brought in fresh fish we caught and the chef + staff were kind enough to prepare it for us. yilmark was our chef and jairo was our waiter, they prepared the fish in 6 different ways for our family and each dish was absolutely perfect. the chef was incredible. jairo our server was the best server i’ve ever had, so kind and went out of his way to ensure we had the an amazing experience. he made us all excited to dine there, and to return as soon as possible. muchas gracias yilmark, jairo, y todo la cocina...

The food was wonderful, we split a NY Strip for 2 with a cognac reduction (options of whiskey or mezcal were available too), but the cheese appetizer was especially nice. After trying the steak tonight, the bone marrow will be on the agenda for the next trip, for certain. Loved the atmosphere, the scenery and the whole experience. Marcus was out waiter and did an exceptional job. He was attentive, courteous and engaging, heelevated the entire experience for us with great insight about the options and his opinions when asked.
