This restaurant is a MUST. The first factor is that it is right on the water. One night the tide literally lapped at the steps leading up to our chairs (it was unusually high surf). The stand for the horses is nearby on the beach. Watching them and the dogs head off down the beach as the surf caresses your ears and a cool Cabotella (try local craft beer!) lowers your temperature...truly magical. The menu is extensive and everything I had on many visits was delectable. Their appetizers are special. The shrimp skewers with different marinades, as well as little round breads they have filled with cream cheese and served with a jam made on site. The pasta, steak, fish and mexican dishes are all delicious. Part of the experience here is the servers. I can honestly say that we kept returning in part due to them and we now call them Friends. Once I mentioned I had an appointment in a more challenging part of the city to find. A server spent almost an hour co-ordinating directions and making me a map. On another night I needed to avoid alcohol as I was loopy on medication. The bar made me a virgin drink that is seriously the best tropical concoction I have ever tasted.

Overall a fun experience, but it was pricy and kitschy. Me and my family came here on our last night at the Coral Baja resort, and its ease of access from the hotel/resort is great, especially considering the construction going on around, but it really is aimed toward tourists. I got the seafood soup, which was on the cheaper side of the menu, and it wasn’t bad, I wouldn’t get it again because it felt kinda bland with one flavor the whole time and I’m sure there are much better things on the menu. Also, be hydrated when you come here, even though it’s on a resort, meaning they have filtered water, they only give you bottled water. Great place to eat as a last resort, but if you have other options, especially local restaurants with only a few days, definitely try those other places before you come here. P.S. their smoothies are pretty good, I got the passion fruit one and it was the highlight of my meal.

This restaurant is at the Worldmark Coral Baja in San Jose del Cabo, so if you are staying at the resort it's super convenient. If you aren't staying at the resort it's still worth checking out. Prices are very reasonable compared to other places in San Jose. It's right on the beach so you can't ask for better atmosphere. We ate there 3 times in our week in Los Cabos and nearly everything we had was incredible. Our favorite were the shrimp tacos. They were to die for. We also tried a couple pizzas, shrimp alfredo, the pork tacos, chicken mole, enchiladas, chile relleno and fish and fries. The only one I wouldn't recommend is the fish and fries. Not bad, just not amazing. And then there was the shrimp stuffed avocado. It was a work of art, and tasted just as good. I would go just for that. Staff is friendly. We enjoyed all our visits to Mama Mia.

My recent visit to this establishment left me seething, as I was subjected to deceptive practices, a complete lack of transparency, and abysmal customer service, all revolving around their so-called "happy hour" specials.

My partner and I arrived with one simple goal - to enjoy the 2 for 1 drink special advertised during happy hour. Little did we know that this seemingly straightforward mission would turn into a nightmare of miscommunication and outright dishonesty.

Upon expressing our desire to partake in the happy hour deal, we were met with a bartender who conveniently forgot to mention that only specific drinks were eligible. We ordered two whiskey sours, and although the bartender was clueless about making them, the so-called manager, Angel, swooped in to "help." We specifically requested Maker's Mark whiskey, yet Angel conveniently neglected to inform us that our preference would not be covered by the happy hour special.

The first round of drinks was handed over with a bill which reflected the 2 for 1. Confident in the understanding that our chosen drinks were part of the promotion, we decided to start a tab and enjoy our libations by the pool.

As we attempted to order another round, a different bartender struggled to replicate our drinks. Remembering Angel's supposed helpfulness, we requested his assistance again. Once more, we asked about starting a tab, receiving an affirmative response without a bill in sight.

With happy hour drawing to a close, we decided to squeeze in one last round before 6 p.m. However, our attempt to confirm whether these drinks would be part of the happy hour deal led to a bombshell revelation: none of the drinks we had ordered throughout the evening were included in the 2 for 1 special.

Frustration turned to bewilderment, and we chose to avoid a scene, deciding to settle the bill later in the evening. To our dismay, Angel had called our room twice. Our friend attempted to explain our perspective, but Angel adamantly refused to honor the happy hour deal for subsequent rounds.

Returning to the bar to settle the tab, we encountered Angel's audacity as he attempted to shift blame onto us, claiming we should have explicitly asked for the happy hour deal. This, despite our initial request and the undeniable evidence of the first bill clearly indicating that the drinks were part of the special.

In conclusion, I am compelled to warn others against subjecting themselves to the deceit and frustration that await at Mama Mia. The lack of communication, the audacity of dishonest practices, and the sheer gall of the manager, Angel, have forever tainted my perception of this establishment. Save yourself the trouble and seek refuge elsewhere, for this place is a breeding ground for frustration...

We arrived at the resort on Monday Aug 7, 2017 we will be here till the 14th of Aug. We are a family of 6. The food was great but our server seemed irritated when my husband asked for tea and he asked if he could exchange it for a lemonade because he didn't care for the tea(tea was hot and tasted like cinnamon) when he brought the lemonade it was extremely sour. My husband nor anyone else in my family speak Spanish so i translated that he was wanted an ice tea. The waiter we had that night seemed irretated /impatient. The following morning we went for breakfast great service and food! That same evening we decided to grill outside by the pool. I called the restaurant at 4 pm and asked for room service needing some side dishes for 6 ppl. I spoke to 3 different ppl because the first 2 were confused/unsure if they could get what i asked for. The third person i spoke to said they didn't do room services for side dishes. I told her that I would pick it up. She then replied ......On Tuesday night Mama Mias has fiesta night and apparently because of this all the food was accounted and very busy to fill a to go order either!!!???

We still have 4 days left and have yet to go back...... The resort has menus for Mama Mia in the room so that you can get room service. Mama Mia's IS a restaurant that is located on the resort ...why would they not take me order ???? The menu does say " Mama Mias is unable to do room service after 5PM on Tuesday due to fiesta" . I made it appoint to call at 4 so that I could place an order and have it filled AND was willing to go pick it up! Needles to say I was very disappointed...

Merry Christmas 🌲🎄☃️. We just arrived today and this was our first time here. We have friends that live here, San Jose Cabo for 4-6 month each year. They not only recommend Mama Mia, but also joined us today. Sitting right at the beach, beautiful views, very friendly staff, if you don't speak Spanish it's not a problem, English is spoken by everyone. The food 🥑 was great. Of course we had to start with a guacamole 🥑 mmmmm good. So fresh and the corn chips. Warm and so crispy. We also enjoyed a shrimp ceviche. My mouth is watering no just thinking about it. It was delicious 😋. Happy hour stars 4-6 and we enjoyed fresh Margaritas X2 for 120 pesos ($7 Canadian in today's exchange). Of course we had to have more than a couple. Lol. Since when we were there it was December 25th. Christmas day, they prepared a full turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and veggies and cranberry sauce and gravy. But you don't have to have that. Many fresh fish dishes, squid, octopus 🐙🦑 and so much more. You can see the kitchen, the open grill and food being prepared. We loved it and we will pop back in for another happy hour before we leave. COVID-19 protocols were followed, place was very clean, clean bathrooms, and friendly atmosphere. The restaurant even set up a stage on the beach and we had live music 🎵🎶. It was a perfect end to...
