How miserable do you have to be to charge for switching from regular syrup to sugar-free especially when I’m diabetic? I used to stop by this drive-thru at least twice a week whenever I was in Los Cabos for work, and they never charged me—until today.
And no, it’s not about the money. It’s about the principle. I used to work for this company, and I know baristas are encouraged to upsell, but upselling isn’t the same as charging for nonsense. If I had asked for mocha instead of caramel, I’d understand. But this was the exact same syrup, just sugar-free.
I actually stopped going to Starbucks in the U.S. because of the poor service—and it’s truly disappointing to see the same thing happening now in Mexico.
You lose more than you gain with actions like this. Now I understand why the brand keeps losing customers—you’ve completely abandoned the values you once stood for.
