It’s in the middle of downtown so it can seem kind of sketchy, but it’s hidden behind a “pop-up” white building. There’s parking building across the street or they offer valet services for a price. If you want to eat dinner (anything past 4pm), I’d suggest you make a reservation as the restaurant maybe has 10-12 tables (the most ) from what I could see. It’s a slender, sandwiched building that you can miss so follow the GPS and look around the area closely. It has a hipster vibe with Buddha bar music. They have great drinks, a bar, brewed local beers on tap or in bottles. I believe it’s affordable for the gourmet quality seafood you are getting. We bought 3 tostada plates (2pcs each order), 1 carpaccio, 2 mixed drinks, a beer, a coke, freshly squeezed orange drink (not orange juice, it’s more diluted), and a pizza for around $75. That was more than enough food for two people or three people. Kid friendly but it’s a bit of relaxed, dimmer adult atmosphere. It’s more suitable for older children since there is no place to run/walk. I wouldn’t recommend strollers. As I mentioned, it’s a slender building and it would probably be more of a hassle to not get hit; Or to squeeze it through to the back of the restaurant. Just my opinion. They have pizzas and hamburgers for the anti-seafood friend. I believe most ingredients are made in-house. I’m coming back to explore the rest of the dishes and some more drinks. (Its dim inside so the pics are a bit...
Read moreI had been looking forward to try this restaurant for a while. It was mostly the picture perfect drinks that enticed me but the food is what will make me return. We tried almost everything on the menu! To start we all shared tostadas de pozole, sliders of cochinita pibil and tiradito de atun. It was all delicious but the tostadas were a wonderful surprise. Super flavorful and has all the flavors that reminds you of your grandmother’s pozole. We continued with pork belly pizza, bone marrow, tacos de lengua and the salmon. So much food but we just had to try all these dishes and even after trying a bite of everything, the tostadas were still my (and everyone else’s) favorite. A must try! The drinks were pretty, flavorful and strong, already knew that. The service is impeccable, I thoroughly enjoy when servers know the menu and can make knowledgeable recommendations. I definitely would return...
Read moreOne of my favorite spots, hands down, here in TJ. While sitting inside the very tasteful interior design of this restaurant, you'd never know you weren't in some trendy hipster spot in LA. The DRANKS! My go to from the beginning, labios rojos. I think about it sometimes...while I'm at home... watching TV. The bf got their smoked fashioned which has gone through a couple of iterations, but this one is great. They mix inside a whiskey decanter and then add their smoked element. Stir it up and it's poured tableside. Food! We had the cochinito sliders and the tuna tartar. The tuna was my favorite out of the 2, by far. No shade on the sliders, the tuna is more my jam. This place has existed for a minute now and is one of the first places like it. With cuisine that reflects both of it's clientele, hip locals and heavy traffic from the other side. Always a treat...
