Bravío — Restaurant in Cancún

Just had dinner here tonight. Everything was fantastic - service (gracias, Pedro and Ian!), food and drinks! I had a very tasty cocktail, my husband a delicious red wine from Mexico. We ordered several items from the tapas menu, all great, an endive salad which was deliciously light and a big paella with veggies, beef, chicken, pork and chorizo. Afterward we had a crema catalana (kind of like a crème brûlée) with Dulce du Leche ice cream and churros that were the size of my face! This restaurant has only been open at the JW Marriott for two weeks, so it’s very new and there weren’t many people eating there yet. We were skeptical at first because in a big city (we live in a Chicago) usually that’s not a good sign. So glad we decided to give it a try, and a good reminder not to judge a book by its cover. The restaurant is in the JW Marriott hotel. It is open for breakfast and dinner only. Their breakfast is served from 6:30 to 11:30 am, but the buffet is kept open till noon. They have an indoor dining room and a very large roofed patio overlooking the garden/pool area and ocean. The breakfast buffet is VERY extensive and should be considered as a brunch since it offers various meat, fish, and chicken dishes as well as 2 different rice dishes. They also have an omelets station preparing made to order eggs. Variety changes daily (see photos). The service is truly great with the servers going above and beyond, trying to anticipate and fill the customers' wishes. Julio, Edgar, and Rafael distinguished themselves with truly e cell entertainment service. During mealtime, the hotel has a handler going around the parameter of the patio with a pray bird (hawk) as a deterrent or the local birds, and indeed, they do not...

This place is outstanding. Very conveniently located inside the hotel, great ambiance right on the poolside river. Food was delicious. Service from Victor Renato was simply outstanding, give this guy a raise! They gave me a gluten free-specific menu, which it was great to enjoy the delicious gluten free chicken. They remembered my name the entire time, even the Manager who came to check up on me. Very very accommodating and small service touches made for such an amazing experience. ...
