DO NOT GO TO COCO BONGO.
Recently my Fiancé and I had a joint bachelor and bachelorette party in Cancun where we had a plan to go to Coco Bongo Beach club. We had purchased drinks and VIP ahead of time for an extremely expensive price of $500 for our whole party. When we arrived I was immediately harassed by a tall white employee stating he was the manager and that he could get me a good price on a VIP booth. His exact words were “looks like you brought in some very attractive VIPs I want to get them noticed.” Gross. As much as I love being haggled to pay more for something we already wasted our money on to be prudent, did not appreciate the guy wasting a bunch of my time to try and sell me something that looked awful (table was not sectioned off from rest and had people at it)
After that was settled I tried to have a good time with my party but as others have said- the drinks we’re horrible and tasted like water, the entertainment was in poor taste, and after only 30 minutes being there an angry security guard grabbed my Fiancé who was wearing a veil, white dress, and sash that said bride to be, and started yelling at her saying she had to leave. We were both confused what had happened, I was with her the whole time and had been dancing. They told her they saw her smoking weed and that she was getting kicked out. Only she wasn’t (I think someone next to us not in our party was.) We had just paid a lot of money to be there, but they didn’t care and tore off our wristbands pushed us to the street where two separate Coco Bongo employees came up to us and tried to sell us overpriced entrance tickets to return.
We left! 30 minutes and $500 waste. I think that was their business plan from the beginning. Not a special time, and extremely disrespectful to myself and my Fiancé.
I’d also like to mention that despite having 6 security guards present for every one club goer, one lone drug dealer was selling much harder drugs than weed imo in plain view right outside the bathroom. I can only assume they wanted him there for their business.
If you’re looking for a good time on the Cancun strip go to La Vaquita across the street! They took excellent care of us and we would absolutely go back. Don’t waste your time being treated like dirt at coco bongo! Enjoy...

Read moreFirst things first, you would expect a Coco Bongos 'Beach Party' to be held on the beach - it isn't! It is inside a building which overlooks the beach and has one set of stairs, guarded by a bouncer, leading down to the beach. We tried to take our drinks down to the beach to which we were told we weren't allowed by the bouncer, eventually he said we could take them down to sit on a few deck chairs that were scattered at the bottom of the stairs but were told we couldn't take our drinks any further than this. On approach to the event, we were asked if we wanted to upgrade our ticket and buy a table, we declined as thought these were just a VIP type table but no EVERY table in the venue has a reserved sign on them so we weren't allowed to sit down anywhere without paying extra. Majority of the 'reserved' tables lay empty so assuming this is a sales tactic. Were told by our ticket salesmen that there were hundreds of tickets sold for the event but it was pretty dead, perhaps we never stayed long enough to see all these people. Staff were attentive to the point it was annoying and could tell they expected a tip with every interaction. One positive I will say is that the cocktails we had there were very tasty. Overall, don't waste your time and money, we left after just...
