The server we had today was in the top 5 of the worst I've ever experienced. She was disdainful and inattentive from the moment we were seated. It was bizarre behavior. We were polite and did not make excessive or abnormal requests.
Our table was opposite the door from the kitchen but she went out of her way to not look at us or check on us. If we tried to make eye contact or get her attention in any way she kept pretending not to see. When I finally managed to ask for pickled ginger, because the sushi came without it for some reason, she slapped a HUGE pile of it on a plate, then dropped it on the table in an insulting manner.
The busboys were the ones that ended up helping us, even though our server was usually standing around nearby, staring in another direction. After they cleared the table she came back and wiped it off silently. She never came back again!
My husband put the card down on the table. She saw and ignored him. I put it on the edge of the table and managed to catch her eye. She ignored me as well. We finally had to ask a busboy if we could have the check. He brought it, took our card, and brought the slip back. So we gave him the tip in cash and told him it was for him.
My husband and I have both waited tables. We tip well and let a lot go. People can have bad days, you never know what they might have going on or how their last table treated them. There are very few instances in which we have left no tip for a server. But purposeful disrespect for no reason is not something I...
Read moreGreat sushi place that I think is part of a franchise. Fresh fish and sooo much better pqr than in places like Tulum. We dined in Kokoro and here and it was almost half the price here, yet better quality. I'd much rather eat here again!
Drinks: they have great cold green tea, which tastes like genmaicha (quite green and a bit like rice). Their umeshu (plum wine) is great, sweet and served in a pretty glass.
Food: first had a lovely appetiser made of a cucumber/seaweed salad. Was great.
Had lovely sashimi; their thick-cut salmon and tuna were so fatty they basically fell apart when you tried to grab them with chopsticks. The octopus was great as well. Loved the meaty slightly salty arms.
Rolls: We had Exotic and Dynamite rolls. The dynamite were delicious!! The exotic are pretty filling and taste as much as you would expect, not bad at all, but how much goat cheese and cranberries would you like to eat at dinner..?
Tempura: We had a mixed tempura which had all sorts of loveliness: white fish, squid, carrot strips, zucchini, eggplant, tomato. It was a bit much for us, but the crispness was great.
I loved the tuna sashimi so much, we ordered another thin-cut plate. Just great! Unfortunately, we didn't have room for dessert this way so I can't tell you about that. However, if you ever are in the neighbourhood, come try it and...
Read moreThis restaurant located in Cancun’s downtown serves incredibly fresh Japanese food. The menu offers several tasty and delicious dishes, including entries, main courses and unique desserts. Their most popular dish is sushi, which recipe is very close to the real Japanese cuisine. My favourite dish is tempura udon soup. A tasty enormous chewy and soft noodle soup, an eclectic ingredient combination in a hot broiled soup, exploding the senses with the softness of the wheat noodles, tempura seafood and vegetables, adding a little touch shichimi powder, becoming a delighting reward for the soul. Grab a spoon and prepare yourself to get into a journey of extraodinary taste, combining the unique textures, smells, flavors all together melting in your mouth. Irori’s tempura udon soup is an experience aboslutely out...
