It would be between 4 and 5 stars, 5 because it was really good without breaking the bank. 4 because it was our first night and I have no benchmark but I think there might be cheaper and more authentic tacos somewhere.
Our airbnb host suggested Los Tarascos to us so it is a good start. Clean, nice, polite people, and the tacos are different from tacos in the US.
It is super convenient and affordable to have uber everywhere. It took us 30 mins by walking to get here but 80 pesos ($4 before tip) to get back when we were full. Bus is not a bad option either. We could get here for 10 pesos per person, no transit, use Moovit app to plan out your bus routes.
Also on Avenida Tulum, if we keep walking North-bound, Mercado Ki-Huic is just 10 minutes away with a series of cheaper outdoor taco restaurants by the souvenir market. Or you could walk from Los Tarascos to Mercado Ki-Huic after your meal but keep in mind the souvenir stores are closed at 9pm (try to negotiate bargains always). I was told they serve breakfast inside the market in...
Read moreFirst visit (see the whole review) - We tried this place only because one evening we were too lazy to walk anywhere and it was closest to our hotel. Still had no idea what some names mean ... so random guesses from the menu (as usual in Cancun for us). The meals ... the meals are F-CKING DELICIOUS! ALL WE HAD! These were probably the best meals I ever tried from Mexican couisine. I want to come back and eat it all! EDIT Second visit - The food was still very good but when we checked the final price it did NOT correspond to the sum of individual prices from the menu. Also we were "informed" for several times that the price does not include 20% tip. The total sum (yeah ... keep in mind the first sentence) was 460 pesos so I wanted to give them 500. Still the waiter kept talking about 20%, so 500-something. It was very forced and "pushy". So I pretended I do not understand, kept my change and never returned...
Read moreMy boyfriend and i had went here & it is right around the corner of our hotel (Fairfield). Their House margarita was really delicious along with their pastor tacos (served with pineapples on them). I would just stir clear of the old short lady. She gave herself a 20% tip without consent. And when we tried to get our money back, she denied it and said she asked us. 20% tip may not be a lot, but its the fact that she did so without our consent and lied about it! Like what kind of business is this?! This makes it hard for me to recommend this place. I wouldn’t want anyone to get taken advantage of (tourist folks). So if you do decide to come here, be sure to have the waitress/waiters show you the card reader first. You...
