Does the job but far too expensive for practically being a better Travelodge. In any other city in Mexico this hotel would cost you 45$. The first room I got for 150$ was a total hole with nothing working at all. The fridge wouldn’t run, the ac not cool and it was like 14m2. After complaining they upgrade me to a corner jr suite which was quite okay but still …dirty windows, housekeeping a mess, they cleaned when they wanted ,like every 3 days and only after complaining and the whole hotel is quite noisy. You can actually listen to your neighbors´ bed talk and normal tone conversations, not even shouting. The breakfast not worth more than 4$ but they charge you much more. The hotel is situated next to a Fairfield Inn by Marriott with whom they share a laundry (100 pesos). Every morning you could listen to the cattle aka tourists entering the bus in front. What a huge bed factory this p,ace and the whole city is. Unbelievable. No International tv channels, yikes. I speak Spanish perfectly but their tv programs are even worse than ours. Really! The suite was comfy and did the job but I would never ever return to this hotel. Another issue is it’s not on the beach (I knew this before)and that’s like taking the fun out of artificial Cancún entirely. Not that I think I would return to this city at all but if I should I’d surely take a beach place. The whole city center of Cancún is a tourist trap with greedy and pushy wannabe sales people trying to sell you over prices tours and even the highly corrupted taxi mafia was present in front of the hotel waiting for their next gullible victims…unbelievable. The main issue is the terrible house cleaning (if they cleaned at all) and the noise level. Funny they got time folding you a towel elephant with a strategically positioned begging card for tips but they can’t find the time to clean your room....
Read moreThe reason we booked this hotel was because of the service we received from Mateo the bell hop when we were picking up our rental car. Mateo is fantastic and made the experience wonderful, he is the real star of the show. This isn't the normal kind of hotel we book, I like funky neighborhood spots, but it's super nice to have an elevator for once. Plus the bed was amazing and everything is very clean and works. There is also lots of hot water and water pressure.
The bad part about this hotel is the staff communication, specifically how they communicate with each other. So many of their problems could be solved by writing notes to each other about guest needs. When my husband booked the room it came with breakfast aka they upcharged for breakfast. I let them know we would be leaving before the buffet would start, they said no problem they would make us a to go breakfast for early morning trip to the airport. Sounded like a good time saver so we agreed. Fast forward to 12 days later when we checked in, asked about the boxes breakfast for the next day and were met with "no refund" at the front desk. Figure it's a language barrier and ask at the restaurant area and get a " no problem, just ask in the morning". In the morning I'm met with blank stares, explain again. A nice guy comes out with to go boxes with some breads and room to add more food. The full buffet was ready to go, just covered with plastic. The first guy has gone back to the kitchen and I start putting some fruit in the boxes. Then multiple employees come out the tell me the buffet isn't open and I have to wait. I explain again, they say no this time. Continue to argue with me. I finally had to leave for the airport but was very disappointed with the whole situation. A simple note from night crew to day could have made this experience awesome instead of...
Read moreUpon arrival the lobby roof had two major leaks pouring down onto the lobby floor. The staff in the lobby were not friendly or hospitable during our check in process. We had arrived a day late to check in due to travel issues and as we tried to check in the receptionist proceeded to tell us they canceled our reservation because we did not check in the day before. They did not email, call or text to alert us our reservation was canceled nor did they offer any sort of refund or reimbursement. We had to rebook and pay a small fee for rebooking though we did not authorize a cancellation of our booking. Upon entering our room we experienced a masked stench of cigarette smoke, we confirmed with the reception that we were in a non smoking room however the stench still lingers and is present whenever you enter the room. Also in the room there are two large wet spots with mold on the ceiling. My wife is pregnant and between the cigarette smell and mold ceilings we do not feel comfortable in our room. Lastly, there are few supplies such as small face towels and larger towels. We had one small face towel however it was stained/dirty with brown marks and so was unusable. The breakfast buffet was sub par with a small selection of hot food, cereal, and breads. The staff at breakfast were much more hospitable than our encounters with any other staff in the hotel. For the amount of money charged per night at this hotel we expected higher end amenities, more hospitable staff, and a cleaner and more sanitary stay. For the price of this hotel I would recommend booking elsewhere as it is not worth the amount of money charged from...
