La Bamba “Mex-Seafood” — Restaurant in Cancún

Walking around Cancun and tired of all the tourist traps here we saw this little restaurant that looked authentic. We decided to eat there and it was by far the best diners for the price that we had in all our vacation.

The menu was pretty extensive for such a small space. It has 2 table inside and 3 outside. Local owner a young chef and the most incredible and friendly staff you will ever meet.

The food was prepped and served incredibly fast and all was simply delicious. My wife got the Torre de Pescado (Fish Tower) the recommended chef specialty which was literally a mountain of diferent types of seafood with a green sauce which was spectacular.

I ordered the arrachera quesadillas and the meat was high quality and all the ingredients were fresh. The tortilla of the quesadilla was soft and made locally. The cheese was also very tasteful and distinctive. It had some grilled onions that were as well very saavory and just fresh tasting.

I ordered a Limonada (Lemonade) and it was very refreshing made with real lemons and water inhouse. Not some supermarket generic lemonade.

It was the best surprise of the whole trip because when we walked in we didnt expect much as it was a random decision but it was the correct one. Restaurant turns 2 years old in 2 weeks (owner was telling us) and Im positive it will be a full blown restaurant by the time we get back. Food like this just doesnt keep secret for too long. Its the kind of whole in the wall you see in some Food Network show that some chef discovers.

Make sure to visit this place if you are in Cancun. Its a delight and the price was more than reasonable. Service was absolutely great.

La Bamba is a true hidden gem in the Cancun Hotel Zone. We ate a several restaurants in the area including the JW Marriott where we were staying and found food in the area generally lacking in flavor. Decided on a lark to explore the northern hotel zone for something family owned and not touristy and found La Bamba and ate there twice.

The first time we ordered off the menu the chicken wings, ceviche, fish tacos and beef quesadillas. The ceviche is the best we have had in Mexico, which we find generally too tart for our taste but La Bamba’a is a wonderful balance of tart, natural sweetness and umami of the fish. The chicken wings were so well fried as was the fish in the fish tacos, both were super flavorful.

We were so impressed with our meal and knowing we were headed on a fishing trip the next day, we knew we wanted La Bamba to cook our catch, if any. The extremely gracious host/owner? Patricio obliged us and sure enough we had a successful fishing day and brought our bounty of Mahi In the next day. Patricio and his team made us a Mahi feast in 10 different preparations, each and every dish more outstanding than the next. The star for us was the fried mahi fish sticks, which we decided is hands down the best fish sticks in the world! La Bamba has an incredibly talented fry cook with perfect batter for every dish, great crunch, crispiness and texture.

This place will be a must for us if we are ever in Cancun again! 10 out of 5 stars...

We recently dined at La Bamba Mex Seafood and were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was welcoming and vibrant.

For our meal, we ordered the fried fish, chicken tacos, and beef quesadillas. Each dish was a culinary delight, bursting with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. The fried fish was crispy and flavorful, the chicken tacos were packed with freshness and zest, and the beef quesadillas were wonderfully cheesy with just the right spice level.

What made our visit truly memorable was the impeccable service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience. Their recommendations were spot on, and they seemed genuinely happy to serve us.
