The Island - Solymar Hotel Restaurant — Restaurant in Cancún

Wir waren dort am 26.12 gegen 20.30 Uhr essen, und ich kann es nur empfehlen, wenn einem unfreundliches Personal nicht stört. Das Essen war für den Preis okay, und die meisten der Kellner waren sehr nett. Jedoch, als es etwas voller wurde und wir gerade noch unseren Kaffee tranken (der uns wohl bemerkt an den Tisch gebracht wurde, nachdem man uns gefragt hat, ob wir noch einen möchten) tauchte ein älterer Herr auf ( wahrscheinlich der Oberkellner), der uns auf unfreundliche Art und Weise sagte, dass wir jetzt unseren Tisch teilen müssen ( kleiner Tisch für 4 Personen und wir waren zu zweit und fast fertig) oder sofort verschwinden müssen. Hätte man uns nett gefragt, hätten wir gerne Platz gemacht, aber dieser Herr ist einfach unmöglich. Als wir erwiderten wir würden gleich sowieso gehen und nur den Kaffe den man uns gerade gebracht hatte fertig trinken, meinte er nur er packt ihn uns ein, aber wir müssen jetzt Platz machen- Wir saßen dort gerade mal 25 Minuten. Das Essen, Personal und Ambiente ist einfach nicht zu empfehlen. Falls möglich kann ich nur empfehlen den Bus zu nehmen und zu egal welchem anderen Lokal zu fahren. Ich schreibe normalerweise nie Bewertungen, aber ich wurde noch nie so schlecht behandelt.

We had dinner there on 26.12 around 8.30pm and I can only recommend it if you don't mind unfriendly staff. The food was okay for the price and most of the waiters were very nice. However, when it got a bit crowded and we were just having our coffee (which was brought to our table, well noticed, after we were asked if we wanted another) an older gentleman showed up ( probably the head waiter) who told us in a rude way that we now had to share our table ( small table for 4 and there were two of us and almost finished) or leave immediately. If we had been asked nicely, we would have gladly made room, but this gentleman is simply rude and should not work in hospitality. When we replied that we were going to leave anyway and just want to quickly finish our coffee that had just been brought to us, he said he would wrap it up for us, but we had to make room now - we sat there for just 25 minutes. The food, staff and ambience are simply not to be recommended. If possible, I can only recommend taking the bus and going to any other place. I don't usually write reviews, but I have never been...

This was one of the worst meals of my life. We paid $1,000 a person for the buffet on New Year’s Eve because we were hungry and running out of options with most places requiring reservations. However, I can honestly say it would have been better to just be hungry and not eat versus eating the “food” here.

The “salad” was lettuce in a soup of dressing. The “meat” was tough as jerky The “fettuccine” was cold and essentially noodles with heavy cream on top.

We weren't customers of the hotel but we went there one evening because we were really hungry and the employees told us we could eat  there. Maybe they took advantage of the situation or maybe it was just the normal price but in either cases it was way too high. It's a buffet so you can eat as much as you want but the quality is not really there... In brief, average food for overrated price. Wouldn't...
