One of my favorite healthy restaurants in San Cristobal. I went two times for dinner, once for breakfast, and took lunch for take away for a long bus ride and everything I had was delicious. Tried three of their bowls, a salad and a muffin. And prices are unbeatable. If you love healthy food or are curious to try out vegan cuisine a relaxed setting, AND you want free nachos with delicous salsa, then come here.
🔥WHAT’S SPECIAL: They have Spanish tortilla!! Its one of their most ordered dishes. I didnt get to try it but if you do, tell me. You can build your own salad and smoothie bowl. They have a lunch deal: For 125 MXN, you get baguette, fruit, water and muffin. They also bake their own bread and offer many gluten-free deserts.
🥗MENU: The entire menu is plant-based with a lot of gluten-free options. Heaven! Breakfast bowls, fruit salad, pancakes, mango pudding, granola, cold-pressed juices and smoothies, yummy deserts, veggie bowls, salads, soups, sandwiches as well as all traditional Mexican dishes (tacos, burritos & co). Basically everything your heart desires.
💵PRICES: Compared to quality, its FANTASTIC! Smoothies (44-55 MXN), breakfast bowls (80-85), pancakes (80-90 MXN), veggie bowls (less than 100 MXN), baguettes (70-80 MXN), salad (69-72 MXN), cookies, muffins etc (10-39 MXN)
🍛PORTION SIZE: The bowls are fairly small. While for me, it was perfect, it may not be enough for someone who likes to eat A LOT.
🍛DISHES I TRIED: 1) Lentil bolognese with salad and it had a slightly sweet taste - too sweet for me but still delicous, 2) Buddha Bowl with rice instead of quinoa, yummy! This one was interesting as all ingredients were already mixed.. But very good taste 3) Salad: build my own for the bus ride and it was a huge portion - loved that too, 4) Ensueño Bowl, delicious! 5) banana/chocolate muffin was a delight 6) Verde Juice with ginger was good.
🙋♀️CUSTOMER SERVICE: Food arrived fast. Service was always good. My favorite server is Chantalle. She was smiling, open, friendly and up for a chat.
⏰OPENING HOURS: Daily 8.15 - 21.30 except Thursday when they open from 12 - 8 pm.
🪪PAYMENT: I was only able to pay cash.
🏡VIBE: A small bistro type place with 4 tables, its quiet dark inside but it has its charm. You’ll meet fellow travelers, those who value healthy food and you even get to chat to the waiters if things are not too busy. No matter if you are vegan, vegetarian or meat eater, you’ll love it here.
🌎WIFI: Free Wifi available.

Read moreI was recommended to go by guys in my hostel. I was so disappointed. I'm intolerant to gluten so had a limited choice. Decided to go for the Cuban bowl. They gave tacos and 2 hot sauces as a snack. Advised that I can't eat spicy sauce and asked if they had an alternative with no chilli. They advised that they have hummus then walked away. After the Cuban food bowl came, she asked if I was done with the tacos and asked if I wanted hummus, I advised that I did but told her that she'd walked away before I could reply. The hummus saved the day. The Cuban food bowl was soo bland. For $80 pesos, I think it was a rip off. The bowl was small. I ate it all as I hadn't eaten since dinner the previous evening and by this time it was 2pm. They asked if I wanted anything more as soon as I'd finished the food bowl but hadn't drunk my tea and already offered me the bill. I felt like they were just wanting me out by that point. I didn't bother...
Read moreBek is on the top of our list of vegan restaurants in San Cris. Everything we had was excellent. We ate here several times during our short vacation. We like having a lot of protein. Some of the other vegan restaurants in San Cris have very low protein foods. At Bek we were able to get very excellent options with tofu. We highly recommend the tofu al gusto which is a very affordable Mexican style tofu dish which includes a drink and fruit or muffin. We usually don’t eat desserts but the pastries here are amazing as well and we could not resist. We even bought some to take to the U.S. for our niece and nephews. We highly recommend the chocolatin pastry. The owner works there as well, and she and the staff were...
