Went here for drinks and snacksâŠ. A large group⊠we had a simple miscommunication. Someone in the large group brought in pizza for thinking there was no food available-we had already ordered appetizers and drinks. We were also planning on staying to buy many more drinks. The waiter very politely came over and told us that food was not allowed. We put the pizza away & apologized. A few minutes later the owner of the place angrily came over and began to yell at us for bringing the pizza in. We apologized and tried to explain that we had miscommunication-we ordered plenty of food already. The owner kept yelling⊠for close to 10 minutes. We all left immediately-we were truly afraid staying at this American owned establishment. It did not offer the typical island hospitality that we have enjoyed all over the island for the rest of...
Read moreWe are regulars at the Burro now, but from the first time we visited our experience was awesome. We were greeted at the entrance and the staff was very friendly. On most days you will bump into the owners Mark and Rosey who will engage you in conversation as if you have known them for years. The drinks are cold and reasonably priced. Beers are ice cold and are the cheapest on the Isla. The food is delicious and a large variety of choices. There is live music every day with a variety of genres. Other things to do are cornhole (some days there are tournaments) and chickens**t bingo. This is a must see. It isn't every day so you might miss it. There is plenty of seating and room to move around. Most of the Burro is outdoors but there are areas to take cover from the rain and sun. If you are on Isla Mujeres this...
Read moreWe were driving the golf cart and stumbled upon this place last week. Yum yum yum!! What a great ambiance with kitties and chickens and beautiful fountainsâŠsuper eclectic. Tons of donkey puns which is fun. Also the Michael Jackson impersonator and live band was unexpected and fabulous to watch! Now on to the food and drinksâŠthe margarita with fresh red fruit was superb SO good, tacos omg amazing. 10/10 on everything we tried. To the reviewers talking about flies, I mean it is an outdoor restaurant on an island in Mexico so with that in mind remember we are cohabitating with Mother Nature. The staff did an excellent job of clearing food quickly and put these little detractors out on the table (I honestly didnât notice flies either). We will be back when we return to the island in January with many of...
