We were on a quest for some good tacos nearby when we stumbled upon this hidden gem recommended on Instagram. Finding the place was a bit of an adventure in itself, but the journey was well worth it, as the surrounding area was perfect for a leisurely stroll and exploration.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted with an overwhelmingly warm welcome from the host, who made us feel right at home. With no prior expectations, we were pleasantly surprised by the level of service. Our waitress, Valentina, was exceptionally kind and attentive, guiding us through the menu with great recommendations for both drinks and food.
We decided to start with the queso fundido, which was a delightful, cheesy appetizer that set the tone for our meal. For our main course, we ordered the tacos—fish and shrimp—and they did not disappoint. The tacos were generously sized and bursting with flavor, exceeding all our expectations. Each bite was a perfect balance of fresh ingredients and vibrant spices that left us craving more.
Throughout our visit, our waitress was always nearby, ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive. It was clear that the staff genuinely cared about our dining experience, which added to the overall enjoyment of our meal.
Just when we thought our experience couldn't get any better, the staff surprised us by bringing out an exquisite cinnamon-flavored donut, generously covered in sugar and drizzled with condensed milk. This delightful treat was a perfect ending to our meal, offering more flavors than we could have hoped for.
I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to return for another delicious meal soon! The combination of fantastic food, attentive service, and a warm atmosphere makes it a must-visit spot for...
Read moreI recently had the chance to dine at Tacos de Humo in Isla Mujeres, and I can't stop talking about this place! Despite its unassuming, down-to-earth appearance, let me tell you, this spot absolutely wowed me with its amazing food.
First things first, the food was absolutely incredible. Seriously, it was like something out of a fancy gourmet restaurant. The tacos, especially, were a taste sensation - filled with flavors that were just out of this world, and you could tell they used the freshest ingredients. They really go the extra mile with their unique combinations and attention to detail in every dish, and that's what makes Tacos de Humo so special.
But what made the experience even more memorable was the personal and friendly service I received. The staff made me feel like a cherished guest, and their genuine enthusiasm for their work shone through in every recommendation and chat. It's not every day that you encounter such a personal touch when dining out.
And when it comes to the prices, they are quite reasonable! Tacos de Humo delivers fantastic value for the top-notch food and service they offer. Dining here won't leave your wallet feeling empty, and you'll walk away with a big smile on your face and a happy, satisfied stomach.
In a nutshell, Tacos de Humo might not have a fancy, luxurious atmosphere, but it's a true hidden treasure for anyone who loves great food. If you're in the mood for a genuine, down-to-earth dining experience that rivals even the fanciest restaurants, with fantastic service and prices that won't break the bank, look no further. I'd easily give this...
Read morePros: Veronica was extremely nice and the complimentary dessert was delicious.
Cons: overpriced and the atmosphere definitely not befitting the reviews but rather like a dank dive bar.
We saw the reviews and went to check it out. I live in Mexico City and my bad for not paying attention to the prices but $8 USD / 169 MXN (!) for three tiny quesadillas (tortillas and cheese) is absurd even for a tourist trap. Same price for arrachera tacos is still high but at least there was tons of tender meat.
The food was good but not close to matching the price tag. For context it was the most expensive meal we had during four days on the island yet all we had were one order of generic guacamole, one order of fish tacos, one of beef and the meager quesadillas plus a couple of sodas for 830 pesos. I still am baffled as to how this is possible and lesson learned to pay attention to prices despite first day of vacation excitement.
I do want to thank Veronica profusely because it was our first meal of the trip and I hadn’t realized everything would be cash only. We didn’t have enough to cover the bill and she graciously extended and IOU. Overall she was extremely nice and welcoming.
With the huge margins on food, my humble suggestion would be to rethink fixing up the place a bit w better air circulation, better lighting and a decent bathroom.
Maybe the second location Kantina w a seafood menus is more aligned on price to value. For me this meal simply...
