I am astounded at the high reviews this restaurant has. We ate dinner here and the first clue should have been the fact that there was only one other table of diners—in the middle of august. They do have a nice parking lot for golf carts but that is the only positive thing i can say. We ordered the grilled fish fillet in red sauce. Fish was seriously overcooked and the sauce was tasteless. Was it fresh or one of the many frozen fillets we saw being offloaded on the ferry that morning? We also had the small ceviche, a very large portion for a small order but most of the fish was inedible. It was filled with chewy sinews—do fish even have that many? We had to ask for tortilla chips for the ceviche, which is also not the norm at other restaurants. They had no fresh limes for beer so i can only assume bottled lime juice was used for the ceviche. No avocado as a garnish or as an ingredient as is the standard at other restaurants. To add insult to injury, we thought maybe just try a fried goody like onion rings. Nope. Our order was swimming in cold grease and most of the batter had fallen off. I have no idea if this was just bad timing or the norm. We had one beer and one margarita for our drinks. Also, bad luck for us because the credit card machine was not working so we had to pay our hefty bill in cash. The waiter was nice and apologetic for the credit card machine not working. We left him a 20% tip on our bill of over 1200 pesos—clearly not his fault. We left without finishing any of the food and stopped at one of the many street taco vendors since we were still hungry—only cost us 160 for a much more...
Read moreWe decided to try this place out as it was set back along the beach and saw all the good reviews on here. One way you can tell if a restaurant is going to be good or not is by the people on the street holding menus trying to invite you in. Unlike the majority of places on isla mujeres, this place did not have that. Just a simple menu laid out with a conch shell. Upon entering, the atmosphere was very relaxed, the staff were friendly and welcoming and let us pick our own table right by the sand and blue waves. We ordered the large fried fish for 2 people ($480) which seemed like a good price considering the fact that the restaurants next door were $550-$600 for a single portion. The fish was supposed to be served with vegetables and rice, and even though we made a last minute request to get fries instead of rice, the waiters happily changed it for us for no extra charge. The fish was fresh, soft and perfectly cooked, the bones stayed attached to the spine, not breaking off, with a healthy portion of vegetables and tasty fresh fries. The portion size was good for 2 people as the fish was quite large. There was live music from a guitarist which set a really warm atmosphere with the sunset over the beach. If you are in isla mujeres i 100% recommend you try this place instead of the...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Customer Service Attendant Alan/Alex Took care of our party. Him and had a conversation about life. Very nice humbled young man from Argentina. He made sure our cups didn't go dry. Never had to look for him. He made his rounds back and forth.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Owner daughter took care of our catch. We dropped them off as we was leaving the dock. When we got ready to go back a bad strom rolled through. They held our catch to the next evening and prepared an amazing meal for our group.
