We booked a table there and I have to say the restaurant is fantastic. The food is delicious, the menu is concise, and next week they’ll introduce a new summer menu. I love that the menu changes seasonally.

We started with mussels as an appetizer, and I must admit they were the best I’ve ever had in Mexico; the sauce was simply outstanding. We also shared a 500-gram Argentinian ribeye, and the meat was incredibly delicious. Additionally, there were two small house-style appetizers served at the beginning—tostadas with various sauces that were quite tasty. We were also greeted with homemade chorizo (if I remember correctly, it was vegan), and it was equally delightful.

The service was excellent. Carlos, our server, is incredibly friendly—I really appreciate that kind of positive energy. The owner and head chef even approached us after dinner to ask for our feedback, which I believe is very valuable in building customer relationships.

The interior of the restaurant is fairly simple, with more of a Mexican cantina vibe. There are TVs on the walls, which my partner and I aren’t really fond of. I feel the restaurant is very spacious, and with a slight rearrangement to separate the bar area and create a more intimate section for romantic dinners, it would be...

We have been to Versalles a few times. This area is a hot, up and coming neighborhood just across from the hotel zone. A Mar y Sierra is an innovative Mexican restaurant adding to the growing list of food destinations in Puerto Vallarta. Attractive Mexican basket lighting and hand painted murals on the walls make this a charming hip spot.

Chef Fabiola is CIA trained and has worked with some of the top chefs in Mexico. This is reflected in the quality and complexity of her cuisine. Her cooking is an updated and reimagining of the local food of her hometown in Huasteca, and other areas of Mexico. Cocktails are as creative as the food.

We started out with delicious passion fruit margaritas. She also has a small wine list, which will be growing. The amuse bouche which changes daily was a nice touch. We were presented with a complementary bread basket which turned out to have great heirloom corn tortilla chips paired with unusual salsas. The ceviche tostadas were fabulous as was the pork belly main course.

This recently opened restaurant will not be a hidden...

Exploring the new restaurant scene in Versalles area in Puerto Vallarta. A Mar y Sierra is our new favorite restaurant! The food was excellent. We went back a second time during our trip just to try more of their offerings. Beet roll salad was an explosion of flavors. The oxtail tamale was delicate with a rich and savory broth poured on top at the table. The mussels and scallops had a perfectly balanced coconut, ginger and lime broth. Beef cheeks was so tender, as well as the beef tongue and sweetbreads. Carlos was our server and he was very attentive and made excellent recommendations. Chef Fabiola has created amazing dishes that capture the flavors of her travels. I wish I could give more...

We eat everywhere- from hot dogs to Michelin Star - and this place is absolutely incredible. It starts with an amuse bouche, followed by three dips and some seed cracker bread - for free. We then had the starter catch of the day, which was mahi mahi, followed by an ox tail tamale and finished with the chicken and tempura veg. We’re going back for dessert tomorrow because we couldn’t fit it in today. Go here. The service, food and price are second to none.
