A few days ago, my partner and I wanted to celebrate our second anniversary, and we chose this place, which at first glance promised a special evening. It’s worth mentioning that we didn’t have a reservation, but we decided to give it a try anyway.
When we got out of the elevator, a young hostess greeted us and asked if we had a reservation. We said no, and she told us the wait could be around 30 minutes — a reasonable time, we thought. However, it struck us as odd that she didn’t take our names or write anything down. After some time with no follow-up, I approached the main hostess — clearly the one in charge of reservations — to ask about the process or if there was a waiting list. She looked stressed and disorganized; she gave me no answer, didn’t take my name, and didn’t explain anything. Still, we decided to wait a bit longer; it was a special date, and we wanted to believe it would be worth it.
After about 45 minutes (a tolerable wait, if the service justified it), we were finally seated. To our surprise, we noticed there was enough space inside for at least thirty more people. That was when our first frustration began — the lack of organization was unjustifiable.
The servers, to their credit, were polite and attentive at first. They offered coat racks and even brought a vase for our flowers, details that are always appreciated. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the cathedral and an interesting concept, though it feels overly generic — aesthetically pleasing, yes, but lacking personality.
When it came time to order, my partner asked for birria, and I ordered carne en su jugo. We waited for more than an hour and twenty minutes. When the dishes finally arrived, both were cold. My partner asked for hers to be reheated and had to wait even longer.
As for my meal, it was disappointing from the first bite. The meat was poorly cooked — tough, served as a whole piece, nearly raw, unseasoned, and hard to chew. At that point, I lost my appetite entirely. I told my partner that the place was beautiful but painfully inefficient: from the disorganized entry process to the disastrous execution of the dishes, everything reflected a lack of order and professionalism.
Only after I voiced my frustration aloud did the captain or manager finally react. Suddenly, the staff became attentive and started offering the kind of service one would expect from a restaurant of this level. Sadly, by then, the damage was done.
The night ended with a deep sense of disappointment — not only because of the literal bad taste left by the food, but also the figurative one left by an experience that should have been memorable, yet turned out frustrating.
The only redeeming element was the small serving of salsa and tortilla chips they offered at the beginning, which, in a place like this, says a lot.
In conclusion, this restaurant is a prime example of how a beautiful view and a well-designed space cannot make up for poor management, lack of organization, and the complete absence of culinary craft. A place with potential, yes — but entirely wasted by inexperience and...
