Café Boutique Teatro Degollado — Restaurant in Jalisco

It was late at night and I was looking for a place to have dinner. I wanted to try someplace new so I came here. The menu was okay but I wanted a vegetarian dish. A bit difficult as most Mexican restaurants have plenty of meat dishes. But I came across the vegetarian lasagna. I ordered a lemonade with mineral water and it was okay. Not as tasty as I had in other restaurants but it was decent. The vegetarian lasagna was not as good as I thought it would be. It was mainly an egg plant with pasta on top and some cheese. The hot sauce they gave me made the lasagna taste a bit better but I left almost half of it on my plate. I am sure that if I had ordered the Bolognese lasagna it would have been much better. The service was great. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. She was giving more attention to another table because they were ordering a lot of tequila drinks that were served in what looked like a large soup bowl. I hope that after all her work and attention she got a good tip. But Mexican people don't tip very well. I recommend this restaurant for its location and the service. If you want to have a coffee this is really a good place. This is one of the few places were I've seen the carajillo (kind of like Irish coffee but w/o milk). I also ordered a latte, the size was good and it was really cheap (~$ 60 pesos). As far as bread they have multiple varieties but I decided to try the apple strudel. This is very similar to the original Apfel strudel but it comes with raisins, almonds and has a nice vanilla extract flavor. I give 3 stars because the food was bad. I tried the degollado chilaquiles, the chicken was really dry and the portion was a little smaller than average. There was something weird on my chicken, like a fungus or something like that. They were nice enough to give me a discount but I wouldn't try it again. Last, the service was very kind but they took a really long time. I waited almost 30min since the moment I arrive to get my order. The apple strudel took 20min but it was freshly made, so I think it's a fair timing. Wife and I stopped here for breakfast based on the good reviews. We waited a few minutes for a table and sat. Then ordered molletes and the bizquet then a smoothie and an aperol spritz. No less than 30 mins later my smoothie showed up which was good but she informed us then that they didn’t have aperol so my wife ordered a chai. Then another 20 mins before our food finally showed up (50 mins since ordering) which also was quite good. We ate and then another 15 mins later as we were ready to go, the chai showed up. Just absurdly long wait times for everything here. Nice view but totally not worth the wait. I’m accustomed to slower pace and have traveled a lot but...
