Gaviotas — Restaurant in Jalisco

We were staying at the Sheraton and made a reservation here as part of our "all inclusive" package. The menu was quite limited but looked like a nice place and it is one of the only places on property with air conditioning. Upon arrival. There were no other patrons in the restaurant (definitely a sign just as the lack of recent reviews). When we were seated the waiter informed us that several of the menu items were NOT included in our all inclusive. All of which were the only things that I thought looked interesting on the menu. We got up and left and ate at another place instead. The prices that were listed on the menu for the items that I wanted were extremely high as well. We stayed at the Sheraton Bougainvillea and discovered this gem as it was included in our package. What a wonderful restaurant! The staff were extremely attentive, especially Rocio Joaquin Alonso (our server the second time we visited). The food was incredible-my husband had the salmon both times. I tried the mahi- mahi the first time and duck second time. All 3 dishes were excellent. The desserts were incredible- my husband had the pumpkin mousse both times ( he knows what he likes!) and I tried the banana bread and coconut mousse. Both were good ( I think I liked the coconut dessert just a bit better). The pianist is quite talented and we enjoyed his presentation. Have eaten here a few times and loved it. This was our last. Ordered NY steak: what I could eat was tasty, the rest had gristle and I could not cut it or chew it; beets were raw and not edible; cottage-cheese looking side dish was totally tasteless. The waiter checked with us many times, and each time I told him about the poor quality of my meal. We ate outside and when the waiter brought us the bill, it was too dark to see it. The waiter suggested that I "use my cell phone". I could not get the flashlight app to work. Waiter never offered a flashlight. Big waste of money. ...
