I mean, what's not to love. You are on the beach in fair weather enjoying good bevies and the ocean. There is a water taxi business that operates from that pier to Paradise Village Nuevo Nayarit. If you ask the vendors on the strip, they say it is operational. If you ask the local expats, they say it isn't. If you go to the actual water taxi stall at Los Muertos, the woman working there will tell you the only boat rides for sale are the most expensive all day tourist trap packages and none of them go to Paradise. I found the guy that runs the water taxi in Paradise Village. His name is Tony. He does go from Paradise to Los Muertos every hour Monday to Saturday; However, he will not automatically show up at Los Muertos unless someone has purchased a return ticket. He only operated on Sundays if there is a group booking. Tony's prices are decent and it is a fun way to stay cool and get to the Romantica...

2024-04 The Los Muertos Beach Pier is an unstill work of art.

The pier juts out into shallow ocean surf and makes a loop around the central statue. The sculpture has a semi-circle of LED spotlights that can change color to help create an active illumination display.

Another thing that makes for an addicting place to relax are the swirling surf ebbing and flowing through and around the steel pipes that make up the sculpture.

The walkway around the sculpture has a large amount of seating for those who wish to take a pause.

The pier does extend further past the sculpture and descends nearer the water to accomodate fishing and perhaps boat access.

When lit up, the Pier is a beloved landmark.

Lit or unlit, it is not...

Instead of constructing a traditional all-wooden pier, they've upped the design bar by adding a modern art piece to the old section of Vallarta, which serves both locals and visitors alike.

THE PIER: A 328-foot wood, steel & concrete foot bridge gently bends out toward the white steel structure which is reminiscent of a boat's sail. One side of the cylindrical tower is open, while a wire mesh skin twists up the other end. A 360° bench seat is set in the middle. It offers great views of Vallarta's coast. At the end is a lower, wooden pier that serves water taxis and other ocean activities. At night it's lit in hues of sky blue, pink, and purple.

OVERALL: A free and cool area to see on your walk along...
