You owe it to yourself to experience this authentic Arabic restaurant in the heart of Guadalajara. It has a very approachable vibe, good for any occasion: Out with friends, family, business associates or a date. I came here solo, with a laptop in hand, and found it perfect for a great lunch, coffee and some work on the go.
It is upscale in the quality of the food and service, without feeling stuffy or pretentious. The vibe is very much "corner cafe chic with a touch of contemporary charm."
What drew me in was the cool vibe and great music emanating from the corner restaurant as I passed by on foot. What put me in a seat was the promise of authentic Arabic food, and they definitely delivered on that promise. Everything is made in house with the utmost care and respect for the ingredients. Flavors are bright, bold and delicious. The coffee is a flavorful mélange of spices that mix perfectly with the well-balanced arabica beans. The wine and beer menu are also very well curated, providing a perfect accompaniment for any dish and palate. The owner clearly has an eye on every detail and makes sure that the experience in his restaurant is delightful.
This place has the trifecta of every successful restaurant: expertly crafted food, service and ambiance. It quickly became my go-to spot in Guadalajara, and I'm...
Read moreGuadalajara is one of our favourite destinations as we like to explore and experience new and unique restaurants. On an afternoon walk we passed Suleyma, unfortunately we just had finished lunch, but made it a point to come back.
Thankfully we did on our last night of this trip. Not knowing what to expect, we started with a trio of Mezzo’s, the Hummus Especially, Tabbule and Babaganous. What a great start, everything was over the top with fresh flavour and care of ingredients. We then shared a plate of Makabek, fresh made sausages of lamb with pita and yogurt, wow, a taste sensation, went so well with my Negra Mondelo and Brenda’s Nebbiolo.
The owner Fouad is a delightful host, with many interesting stories, thank you Fouad, we wish you great success with your upcoming ventures. For desserts we were tempted by the Dedo De Novia and Manual De Datil along with Cafe Arabe Con Especias. The two desserts are small bites, but delicious, enjoyed the coffee…
The meal was well priced, hate to use the word cheap with its resulting connotations, we will be back on...
Read moreSuleyma is much more than a standard Arabic restaurant. It goes much further with offering the best quality and taste that can compete on a global level (even in the Middle East). The flavors, taste and elegance is unmatched.
They offer a very unique menu that has many home favorites from any Levantine household and deliver it with the taste of homestyle cooking. The quality delivered for the price is impeccable.
One thing I could not get enough of was the selection of Mana'eesh. Getting one with the fresh bread that was still hot with the Zaatar and Labneh took me back to my years growing up.
One thing I learned about the hummus was that the Tahini was made in house. Suleyma cares about the details of their food and cares to give the best to their customers. I loved this place so much, I had to eat there two days in a row!
I am excited to see where Suleyma goes and know that I will come back next time...
