I contemplated whether I should write this but I figured I should just in case anyone else has eaten here in the past week and experienced food poisoning as well. It is important the restaurant is aware (they may have an outbreak). Trópico was a great experience at the time. Lovely staff and great atmosphere. I ordered the aguachile and didn’t think anything of the disclaimer about increased risk of food poisoning. I had been travelling Mexico for a month and had eaten aguachile multiple times across many different cities in Mexico… we dined there on a Friday night and I woke up early Saturday morning very unwell. Read moreThis restaurant has a great vibe. We arrived late on a Saturday night after ready great reviews. We called ahead to reserve a table for 4. We were shown into the restaurant where the music was so loud and tech no. It was 10 pm. It had a fun vibe. We requested to be reseated out front which was quickly accommodated. There was live music in front of the restaurant with Mariachi. Our order was for tacos of beer x 3 and camaron tropical x flour tortilla and rice. All nice and very well presented. There were young children at this restaurant as well. No mosquitoes. The hamburger looked pretty...

That pretty much sums up the menu here. If you haven’t had enough offers of camarones in Merida, then this is the place for you.
It feels like 90% of the menu was shrimp, plus hamburgers. Perfect for the horde of Americans that patronize this establishment.
Long story short, if you are looking for a genuine Yucatán food experience in Merida, there are better, more diverse options. We chose another place, because we can get what’s...
