PIZZA NEO — Restaurant in Mérida

I don't even know where to start. I lived in Rome for several years, so my expectations for Italian food is very high. Now, I wont tell you they are equal to Italian pizza, but I will tell you it met and exceeded my high expectations. The pizza is phenomenal- PHENOMENALLLLLL. Sooooo tasty, delicious, absolutely quality ingredients and technique is being implemented at this establishment. The meatballs are outstanding too - although, as most things in Merida, they are made out of pork as opposed to beef, but they were amazing and super tasty. The sauce used is magnificent. They also have some sauces to add to your pizza. Spicy sauces - omg. I wanted to lick my fingers! And the service?! This is where Italian standards come into play. The owners make their presence very well known, and they are attentive, warm, welcoming, and extremely thoughtful. I was given a free shaved ice, i was offered free extra sauce for my meatballs without even asking for it. The owner literally just walked by, looked at my plate and just brought it. I love this place. I love their food, i love the owners. What a truly great addition to Merida’s cuisine scene! Wishing them all the success in the world!!! What a lovely and surprising night out.

My partner and I have been on the hunt for "Merida's best pizza" for almost two months, but I'm happy to say the search is over!

We went in to Pizza Neo cautiously optimistic and we cannot be happier that we did. The staff was super lovely, very friendly and so eager to provide suggestions and recommendations. We met the owners, Sean and Juan Pablo who went out of their way to get our feedback and make sure we had a great meal.

We ordered the Margarita and Salchicha Italiana, both on a thin sourdough crust with homemade blend of Mexican and Italian tomato sauce. The Margarita had a great balance of cheese and basil and the Italian was made with organic meats which we really appreciated! Crust was nice and crispy, perfect char. Cant say enough about this place and we cant...

The atmosphere and the service were outstanding. My server was very sweet and attentive. I loved the pizza, it had the crust I like...a little yeasty and a little chewy. I got the Pizza Blanca. I would have liked the crust a little crispier and would have prefered less garlic and more basil. I think I'll try the pepperoni next time for different flavors. The house wine was solid and less than 100 pesos/copa. A side note, there is a stand just to the side of the restaurant where you can purchase this pizza by the slice for about 50 pesos! It's ready to go and you can get these slices from inside the restaurant as well if you would like to enjoy a beverage with them. Better choice for someone dining alone perhaps as the pizzas were over a foot...
