As a seasoned traveler and culinary enthusiast, my visit to Arango Cocina de Raices was not just a meal but a transcendental journey through the heart and soul of Mexico, its culture, and its cuisine.
Arango provides a chic, upscale setting without losing its inherent Mexican charm; it's on the 7th Floor of the San Rafael area with panoramic views of Mexico City. The aesthetically pleasing interior design strikes a harmonious balance between contemporary sophistication and traditional warmth, providing an inviting, comfortable, and luxurious atmosphere.
Chef Alejandro Cuatepotzo's culinary artistry is clearly evident in every meticulously crafted dish. His commitment to preserving and presenting the authentic flavors of Mexican roots cuisine is nothing short of extraordinary. The menu changes seasonally and is a masterful curation of traditional Mexican recipes imbued with innovative culinary techniques and modern flair.
I was particularly taken by their 'Fried Cricket,' served alongside Pork belly Chicharron and guacamole, an intensely flavorful and comforting starter that tasted of home, even to an immigrant like me. The 'Crab Taco,' with its perfect blend of soft crab meat with drunken salsa and beans, elevated the humble taco to a new gastronomic delight. The Black Cornesquites with beef, mixed in habanero mayonnaise and sheep cheese, is a taste opener for someone who reacts to cow cheese. The freshness of the ingredients was clearly apparent, and the balance of flavors and textures was exemplary.
The food and the story behind each dish distinguish Arango from other high-end restaurants in the area. The knowledgeable and friendly staff takes time to explain the origins of each dish and the inspiration behind it, making the dining experience more immersive and educational. Arango truly excels in creating an exciting ambiance for a romantic date night. The venue is cozy and intimate, providing the ideal setting for couples. Additionally, it can easily accommodate larger groups, making it a versatile choice for any occasion. What impressed us most was the affordability of the food without compromising on quality. The portion sizes were generous, catering to both moderate and hearty appetites.
Arango delivers an exceptional dining experience that is both memorable and enjoyable. From the impeccable food quality to the inviting ambiance and attentive service, this establishment surpassed all expectations. Arango is a must-visit if you're searching for a culinary adventure combining traditional Mexican flavors with a contemporary twist. Prepare to be enchanted by the culinary artistry and warm hospitality that await you at this fabulous restaurant.
Despite being in the heart of bustling Mexico City, the ambiance inside Arango was peaceful and serene, making it an ideal spot for intimate dinners and business meetings. With its first-class service, sumptuous cuisine, and relaxed atmosphere, Arango Cocina de Raices exceeded my expectations in every way.
A visit to Arango Cocina de Raices is not merely a meal; it's an exploration of Mexico's deep-rooted culinary traditions, a celebration of its diverse flavors, and a testament to its ongoing gastronomic evolution. It's a symphony of authenticity that leaves an indelible mark on your palate, heart, and soul. It's a must-visit for any food lover exploring...
Read moreThe food was delicious, the service was TERRIBLE. We were seated immediately but had to wait over fifteen minutes to order drinks. We then had to wait another 20 minutes to order our food, but our server didn’t even take our order, we had to flag a gentleman in a suit and ask where our server was.
He then decided to take our order, we came here for a full coursed dining experience, but the gentleman immediately took off after only taking our orders for our appetizer, when it was obvious we wanted to keep ordering. We had to flag him down to remind him we had not finished ordering. The gentleman had no knowledge of the menu or wine pairings. My friend wanted the duck but was told they were out (something that should have been 86’d off the menu with The Whole front of house knowing this). When we finaly ordered our entire meal, the service was not smooth and seamless at all. Our drinks sat empty with us reminding staff we’d like to order more cocktails (the Jamaiquilla is delicious by the way). It was 20+ minutes in between courses, our plates were only changed once during the whole meal. For the price point, ambiance and quality of food, the level of service is just not reflected with the food being served. The staff were nice and kind, but it is clear that this establishment needs training as to how a fine dining establishment needs to serve their guest. While the food was delicious (the Chile en Nogada was superb)I would not recommend coming here.
Save your money and go to Restaurante Rosetta. The staff are knowledgeable, and the service is seamless. You never have to ask for anything because the staff anticipates the needs of guest, while controlling the flow and course of the meal with such...
Read moreUpdate - from 8/29/2025 - We came back again with a group of 12 friends and the views and experience were just as great! I loved the chile en nogada - so fresh - and the flavor was well spiced and they made accommodations for me to have cream on the side so I could place less of it on my dish. We enjoyed the tortilla soup and aguachile again alongside pork shank tortillas with fresh corn tortillas. So delicious and brought home leftovers for the next day for breakfast! Definitely a nicer meal with reservation required but worth the visit!
The atmosphere was perfection! Such great views of the Monumento A La Revolucion on the rooftop of the building. The starter we enjoyed were complimentary tortilla chips with various fresh salsas and a bean dip along with red shrimp aguachiles. So fresh and delicious! We enjoyed the tortilla soup that was layered and very flavorful - you could taste the fresh tomato along with the cheese.
The black ink squid main dish and the hibiscus adobo fish were so delicious and perfectly cooked alongside tortillas! The hibiscus adobo was slightly tart flavor with the savory adobo!
To end the meal we enjoyed a complimentary bread pudding like dessert with vanilla cream that was so yummy and pretty! So worth the experience and the beautiful views in the evening time! Come at night for dinner! Service was super helpful when it came to explaining the menu in both languages English and Spanish and also helping us navigate the options and...
