OVERVIEW: Excellent atmosphere, great music, service was fast and prices were fair. Food portions large and delicious.
ATMOSPHERE: It was a bit hard to find for someone unfamiliar with the city. But just look for the 157 on top of the building by the revolution monument. Inside is a sharp, hip look with very nice presentation and decor. Many books relating to Mexico's history and cultural figures like Freyda Rivera are displayed upon entering. Environment is pretty relaxed with well selected music - Jazz, Cha cha cha, dub, and a bit of 2-step / instrumental hip-hop. The view of the monument is likely the best you will get in the city for dining.
STAFF: The staff are happy and inviting, and service is extremely quick. They were happy to volunteer to take pictures for us and explained the menu well. They also provided an English menu for tourists like myself. Kudos to our waiter Uriel, he was excellent!
FOOD: There weren't many vegetarian options for myself, but I had the cactus salad and Pumpkin Flower Tacos which were both amazing and serving sizes were liberal considering the price. If you haven't tried tempura pumpkin flower, I highly recommend getting the tacos. The people I was with also enjoyed their food, and they really enjoyed the chamorro tacos 🌮.
DRINKS: Many great cocktails that use tequila and mézcal.
RESERVATION: Try and reserve a few days in advance, and ensure you show up within 30 minutes of your...
Read moreIt wasn’t my first time in Terraza Cha Cha. My first time was so incredible and food was amazing! This time it was the opposite. We got sat on a corner table, even though when I made the reservations I asked for a table on the terrace, when we mentioned this, they told us that they had no availability on the terrace. Our server then greeted us and took our order. My dad ordered Cochinita Pibil and I shared the Pulpo Arrebatado with my mom a long with the Strawberry Salad. My dads Cochinita was cold, we told another server, which then took the plate, gave it to our server and our server took it back to the kitchen. Minutes later, the server comes back with the plate holding it with a towel, because it was hot and placed it in front of my dad. Never addressed the situation or apologized for the inconvenience. To me it was very unprofessional from the server and manager, whom saw the entire ordeal. My octopus was also cold, but my mom and decided it was ok to eat like that. The salad had great flavor but it had too much dressing. Finally we order the Nata cake with ice cream. Ice cream was incredibly delicious, cake was dry. I would give terraza cha cha cha another chance, just because the first time I went, I had...
Read moreWe don't even know where to start: For the start, the only positive thing was the view. Besides that, the endless list of negative aspects and faults is probably unmeasurable. Service is horrendously slow (we waited 30mins for a coke to be served) , the servers always come up with excuses why they're stressed etc while not even being fully packed. Sadly, pricing is also an issue for the food offered: we ordered a "Caesar's salad" which was only served with lettuce and some dressing and disgustingly covered with parmesan cheese. Of course they had no shame charging $200 for it. 🤡 Further, we ordered a birria quesadilla which was very tasty but sadly will not suffice to calm your hunger. It was quite small, more a size of a taco. Lastly, the biggest joke was the camarones which took 45min to serve (everyone else at the table had already finished their meal and the plates were removed). They arrived on a hot plate, so you had to play the cook yourself. The camarones were not seasoned, and didn't have any garnish. This dish sums up the soulless kitchen in this overpriced restaurant. I suggest to keep your money and support local...
