I'd have to recommend this as the best coffee (third wave) in Mexico City that I've tried to date - worth the trip all the way down to Coyoacán. The coffee here is very good to excellent - 4.5 stars and it's all sourced within Mexico. As a basis for my review, I've been to El Chiquitito in Condesa, which is good, but not very good. Been to Cafe Gabi (not good), Passmar (good, comes in just below El Chiquitito), Cafe Rococco (good), Cielito Querido (decent for a chain), Cafe Memorias de un Barista (decent), Juan Valdez (decent), and Cafe Punto del Cielo (not good). I'm basing this review on the coffee quality alone as I'm a huge coffee snob - usually I order either espresso, pour over, or aeropress, always black no sugar.

When visiting today, I noted that they had FIVE different single origins (all from Mexico!) on offer. 2 origins for espresso and 3 for clever dripper, pour over, and aeropress respectively. I usually judge a place by their espresso because that's the most finicky brew to perfect as there's so many variables to control. Had two "sencillos" and especially liked the first one which was from Oaxaca (the exact finca name escapes my memory at the moment) and it was incredibly well balanced in the front of the palate with a sweet, dulce de leche finish.

As I was on my way out, I spoke to the roaster (Carlos) who told me he would custom roast two different single origin beans (1/2 kg total) for me for home brewing. Now that is customer service! These guys know what they're doing, give...

I heard a lot of praise about this coffee bar so I decided to go here. I have been 3 times in the past month. First of all because it is so good, but also because I was intrigued by the range of cold brews.

The coffee bar is located near the center of Coyoacan , a very nice neighborhood in the city. The coffee bar is very small with barely room to sit. There are some bar stools and there is also a bench against the wall. With a bit of luck you can also sit outside on the sidewalk. That is it.

But I like the place, it's cozy with a nice bar counter. And, worth mentioning, with a very good choice of music.

But I came for the coffee and it is excellent. The presentation is perfect and neat, with a glass of water.

What struck me, however, was the wide choice of cold drinks, with coffee as the main ingredient (cold brew cocktails, as it were).

The menu of these cold brews changes every month. For example, last December there was a choice of a cocktail called 'cascara soda', which consists of a cold brew, kombucha, mandarine and mineral water. Or how about the 'Trago 2' which consists of cold brew, kefir de jamaica, ginger and orange.

I thought they were all very tasty and excellent. Highly recommended to come here for...

Cafe Avellaneda is home to some of the friendliest baristas I've had the pleasure of meeting in CDMX. Despite its small size, the cafe offers high-quality coffee and exceptional service thanks to its three friendly baristas. Although I'm not a coffee drinker, I tried their house chai with lactose-free milk. What makes their chai unique is the use of leftover coffee beans in the preparation, resulting in a flavor that is both intriguing and cozy. This approach sets it apart from other chais I've had. However, the real highlight of Cafe Avellaneda is its baristas. They are warm and hospitable and provide impeccable service, which elevates the entire experience. Additionally, each drink comes with a glass of water and a small wafer, which adds a thoughtful touch to your visit. Overall, Cafe Avellaneda is one of the most popular coffee spots in Mexico City, and it's...

Must try. Elevated coffee drinks. Their tonic espressos are amazing, El Juanito is my favorite. Truly a Mexican coffee drink with tamarindo!
