Consuelo Pan de Madre — Restaurant in Mexico City

Horrible service, no acknowledgment from staff—I decided to leave after five minutes of being ignored. After passing by a few times, I finally decided to try Consuelo. Upon arriving, I got some stares, but no one seemed to be attending to the restaurant. Eventually, an employee acknowledged me and told me I could sit wherever I wanted, but no menu was provided.

I waited for a server to acknowledge me, but despite one running around, she didn’t bother to give me a menu. The other staff members were in the back, seemingly counting their tips, with no interest in serving customers. This cute coffee shop/bakery has 8 tables in a covered patio. They have lots of delicious looking pastries and their own signature small croissants dipped in different flavors called consuelitos. Their coffee drinks come in stoneware specialty cups with their signature C. They have quite a robust menu with breakfast and lunch options. The service was kind and thorough. Fuimos a este lugar sólo de paso, para atención en mostrador. Importante para que no tomes la reseña como una experiencia completa. Bebidas: pedimos en mostrador 1 café mora caliente y uno frío. No tenían moka oscuro por lo que nos lo dieron blanco. La temperatura de ambos era tibia, no estaba lo suficientemente caliente ni lo suficientemente frío. El espesor de la Leche deja mucho que desear y el sabor también. Resumen: pagamos 60 pesos por cada uno de los cafés y los tuvimos que tirar, por lo que mi experiencia en bebidas de este lugar amerita un 3 o 2 pues he probado mejores cafés en cafeterías más pequeñas. Aun no he probado el pan así que actualizaré mi reseña. Pan: el croissant de Almendras es muy rico y tiene una relleno abundante, creo que fue mi favorito. El croissant de chocolate es normal, no tiene nada diferente o extraordinario a otros que he probado y su relleno no es tan abundante.
